Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaJust the pillows - too soft for our liking but that’s just being picky. I think most people would say the bed and pillows are extremely comfortable.
The location is probably the best feature of the hotel. It’s so central to everything in LA. The design is stunning. The furniture and fit out are high end and brand new. Feels more expensive and luxurious than it should be for the price.

GermanyEverything was fine! Just make sure, that you have an idea about how to come there and to the City. By car it was perfect for us.
The hotel is architecturally and stylishly designed and executed right from the entrance. This aesthetic carries through the corridors to the rooms, and continues within the rooms themselves, which we greatly appreciated. The rooms are spacious and furnished with modern real wood furniture. There is enough space to fully utilize and enjoy the beautiful room despite having luggage. As a positive surprise, complimentary coffee, hot water, and tea are provided, along with selected and ever-changing small pastry items in the morning.

United StatesThe staff here is the best - best hospitality, so much integrity, you cannot go wrong with exceptional management and handpicked teams. Christina is an amazing GM and I’m grateful to have stayed at a place she’s running. Her unpretentious expertise, integrity and authenticity sets a bar few hotels meet. Donald is just an outstanding manger and gave me my first impression of how well run this place is. Nancy truly made my day every day I was there with her powerful warmth and awesomeness at the front desk. Francisco, Cindy, Josh all went out of their way on my two stays . Magdalena is a true rockstar and lovely person to meet- she made my stay immaculate and comfortable, and the rest of housekeeping team and operations, top notch. Shout out to the bathroom tile work, generous thoughtful amenities, lovely design moments you discover if you take the stairs, and great equipment in the gym. Thanks, Alsace, for being different in the best way.

NetherlandsWe LOVED Alsace and would definitely go back. The design and lush vibes were amazing. The bed was super comfy and the staff was also super helpful and friendly. Good for people who want to go with a car: they charge 30,- dollars per night for parking the car in the garage (which is a good price for LA standards), but you can park the car for free outside from 6.00 in the afternoon until 8.00 in the morning and on Sundays for free. We stayed from Friday to Sunday and used the paid parking for 1 night and the other night we put the outside. Perfect. Also the location was perfect for us, because it's quite central. I would definitely book again!

United StatesCoffee and pastries for breakfast was a nice touch. It would have been nice to have more fresh fruit options like oranges and apples. Since we were there for a week.
We loved the relaxing ambience of the hotel. It was easy for us to walk to many great restaurants in the neighborhood and it was easy to jump in the car to go to locations in LA.

United StatesThis feels like a very newly-built hotel, with all the growing pains. While the location is great for being in a central location, there's not much around it. If you're looking for walkable, this really isn't the place. The parking situation is probably the biggest issue that they will need to figure out. There is an underground garage for a nightly fee. This is expected (and greatly appreciated). To exit the garage, there's a sensor and the gate opens automatically. It's when you need to get back in that you really feel The Alsace needs to grow up. When you drive up, there's no way to use your room key card to open the gate (this seems like the most obvious way to enter). Instead, the front desk person must see your car on the security feed, physically walk out to the street and then use a garage door clicker to open the gate. It's just...not a good way of doing things. The water pressure wasn't great. This might be a Los Angeles drought mandate kinda thing, but it's something to mention. No bar. No restaurant. They do have breakfast, but it's underwhelming. Like I said in the positives above, just take a short walk to Tartine up the street.
Central location makes it relatively easy (for Los Angeles) to get to basically anywhere in the city. If you're staying near the beach or in Downtown, it's a slog to cross town. The Alsace's location really cut out that problem, which honestly was nice. You'll still have to drive a lot, but not as much if you want to visit multiple neighborhoods during your stay. Hotel's design was cool. Staff was super nice. Rooms were very clean. There is a gym which seemed well stocked, but never got the chance to use it. The Alsace is also just 1 or 2 blocks away from Tartine, arguably one of the best bakeries in the country. I walked over each morning. Highly recommend it.

United StatesWe arrived back to the hotel around 11:30 pm and rang the parking entry gate system for them to let us in. They did not watch the camera to let us in. We called twice and finally went inside the lobby to get them to let us in. It would be far more convenient to have the hotel door key open up the parking garage. The good part is that your car is safe.
The hotel is very tastefully appointed and comfortable. It is welcoming. There is private and safe parking lot. The courtyard is lovely for morning coffee and afternoon tea or wine.
