Extremely peaceful setting surrounded by tall pine trees, sand dunes, and a beautiful, rugged coastline. The architecture is all wood and stone, designed especially for this magical, natural site. The room was very spacious, and there was a nice shared sitting area/lounge with a fireplace in many of the lodges, including ours. Peaceful brick-paved walking paths wind through the woods, as well as amazing boardwalk pathways through the dunes leading to the beach. Trails along the coastline are extensive, with inspiring views all along the way. This is an incredibly special property!

I would suggest having a coffee maker in the rooms for the guest , it would be a good addition and more blankets

Torn stair carpets. Wood rot, dirty drapes , We love this place and hate to see it falling apart

You need to fix the torn carpet on stairs in willow and everywhere else ! It’s not safe! Also replace the wood rotted things that hold up roofs! I’d be happy to write to whatever powers give you maintenance money

Paper thin walls in 606! Crying baby in next room in Sands woke us up 2 mornings at 4:30. Could hear conversations of neighbors. No TV was a surprise. Privacy door to toilet interfered with toilet. Bathroom needs significant update to be comparable to similarly priced facilities.

No aircon, and because of the rustic location and mountain lion warning signs I didn't want to have the windows open. Luckily it wasn't super hot when we visited. Food and drinks were very expensive in the cafe and the food was average. They charge 50c for a cup and 25c for just hot water. The bathrooms need updating.

The location, grounds and building were lovely and my teenage boys particularly enjoyed the pool table and the swimming pool. The boardwalk was very nice and it was easy access to the 17mile drive to Carmel by the sea. Staff were lovely as well. The room price was reasonable too and the beds were super comfortable. Free towels at the pool and bathroom toiletries was a bonus. Not having a tv was actually great as we as a family spent time playing pool in the main hall.

We didn’t know there was a restaurant on site. The description said there was a heated pool, but the water was truthfully, very cold.

I really enjoyed being in this historic area. The room was pretty neat since it had three twin beds and a double bed and a fireplace. I like the separate three rooms for the bathroom. Family members could use different parts and have privacy. We enjoyed the fire pit outside our room And the smell of eucalyptus was beautiful

we got an ocean view room, it was exceptionally fun down. Also only one window for the view, and the window was opening onto the stairwell and hallways for the entire building, so if we wanted to see the view everyone could look in and see us. Also the bedside lamp was broken and we called about it on night one, and. hey day 3 when we left it has still not been fixed even though maintenance came down and saw it was broken and needed a new switch. the pool was very cold and weirdly had no shallow end or steps for little kids.

I took my neice for her first visit to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and decided to stay here. I would rather give my $ to the State Parks than a private business. The location is perfect, no TV a bonus for unplugged (we played board games), and had a wonderful experience taking a walk and visiting with a deer..

The room was very sub par. The wall paper was peeling. There was mold in shower tile. One screen was missing and that was on the window pain that could be opened and locked. The other pain had a screen but the lock in the window seal was broken so my wife felt unsafe and being at top of stairs, we could not leave either window open for air. Walking around the property I saw many rooms that were updated. I did ask about the availability of several of those rooms and I was told they were only one bed or not available. It would have been a 10 if the room was just a little nicer.

The view was amazing and the pool was a nice treat. The staff was very polite and accomodating.
