Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesCons: Generally unclean. Blankets are unclean and smell dusty and musty. Bathroom is literally built of PVC piping and tile flooring is completely cracked. Toilets also covered with urine. Showers are open gym style. Half the lights in the bedroom don't work. Room locks are cheap and require multiple attempts to work. Also people forget to lock them after opening. Susceptible to homeless / squatters: I suspect they don't change door codes very often. A random guy came in around midnight smelling horrendous. I heard him say "oh it's already open" before entering. He had an alarm that sounded like a fire alarm going off every 10 minutes from 5:30-6:30am, presumably to allow him to leave before management came and discovered him. Kitchen is locked 10:30pm-7:30am so there's no way to get your food during those hours.
Pros: Cheapest option in Salt Lake City Location is great: Safe, Walking distance to grocery store, parks and attractions. Beds are spread out with plenty of space and are reasonably comfortable. Hot showers. Big common area with TV and Wi-Fi. Manager was accommodating for early (6:30am) checkout

United StatesShowers were filled with mildew - tub upstairs was NOT CLEAN - I had to scrub it down with bleach - it had oily rings around the rim of the tub. Mildew on the corners of the tub. Heat was turned up too HIGH made it uncomfortable to sleep without opening the window for FRESH AIR. Travelers who were there for long periods of time NEVER CLEANED UP after using UTENSILS or POTS
I was told Breakfast will be : Eggs, meat of some sort, Juice, Milk, cereal, toast, coffee, fruit - NOTHING was THERE but Eggs, bacon, toast, dry cereal

United StatesThe next time I stay here during the holidays I'll bring in my sleeping bag. The men's dormitory was clean but damned chilly.
At 9 PM there wasn't much traffic. I lived in this neighborhood decades ago, so it was pretty easy for me to find. If you're just looking for a cheap place to crash midway between Nevada and New Mexico without any frills this is the place.

United Statesthe staff are nice and I entered a few times as a worker for room + board at the hostel and was able to get the room cleaned on my own and unfortunately the owner is not there and feel like they use their money and time for cheap labor and do not operate properly!

CanadaThe place is not clean. There was dirt and garbage all over the dorm floor, and it didn't look like anyone had swept under the beds in several months. My bed wasn't made when I arrived, even though it was after check-in time. Half the lights in my dorm didn't work, some of the doors looked like they were barely hanging in their frames, bathroom stalls only have curtains to close them, and showers are all in a row, prison-style, with no dividers. Overall, the place needs repairs and regular upkeep.
The location was excellent, the price is definitely what drew me in, and the staff were all friendly and helpful. Free breakfast is provided every morning, which is a major perk.

This is a budget hotel/hostel with pluses and minuses. The place is kept clean, well staffed and safe. No frills. A basic room, with the breakfast kitchen open every day and a good selection of food available at no cost. I cooked up some eggs and bacon and mmm, very good. Male only guests. No towels but paper towels. Shower curtains held together on a shoestring - we're talking no frills here. But, a friendly, safe, place with polite staff. incredible price for what you get.
