Homeless people with tents near the hostel, but this is big issue also elsewhere in LA

Very good hostel. Good location, close to the Hollywood walk of fame, Griffith Observatory etc. Breakfast could be better(they provide coffee, muffins, some other "plastic" things, toast, butter, tea). Staff was very polite and helpful.

Parking space is limited, first come first served. We had a spot, so good for us. I didnt like the continous music, but this is a hostel so I understood the rules:) The homeless situation is terrible in Hollywood, there are some tents close to the gate. But the hotel is super safe!!

Staff is really friendly and cool. There are programs each day of the week. The breakfast is quite good. (Strongest brewed coffee I had in the States.)

+ The location is perfect. Near the Hollywood . Also near the subway. + Very clean bedroom, bathroom and cozy bed. I had a nice sleep.

Interiors can be little dated and cramped. We had a full/queen sized bed(?) and a bunk bed in the room- would have been better for a group. No chair or couch in the room, as well a hairdryer and iron. Activities can continue til 2am so if you would like to sleep earlier than that, you might have a bit of a problem with the noise.

Friendly and accommodating staff. Good security. They also offer luggage storage. They have a breakfast bar and they have daily activities for those who like to meet new people and socialize. Bathroom is clean, with the usual basic toiletries provided. Location is also good.

- Despite tagging parking as for free on Booking , we had to pay for it $6 per night, which is a good price however we didn't expect to pay - Breakfast options were highly limited with only bread and peanut butter, jam, fruits and hot beverages - Additional minus for issues with electricity when trying to make toasts, the toaster was keep turning off - The bathroom dedicated for our room was located separately with enter code, what made using it not comfortable - The room was very dark with no option to open the window - Strange smell in the room, coming probably from cleaning products

+ Location as Banana Bungalow Hotel is located very closely to Hollywood Walk of Fame, only an 1h walk to Griffith Observatory + Very nice personnel of the hotel + Additional attractions like ping pong, basketball and organized evenings + Closed area to outsiders with enter code to the main doors and automatic gate opening only for vehicles + Price is very good for a room with breakfast, located in very center of LA tourists attractions

Breakfast could have had more diversity in the food selections and more inventory, as there were only a handful of fruits and muffins that ran out in the first 30 minutes of breakfast and then you need to fill yourself with bread and jam, you have no other choice.

Location was great, although there are external factors regarding Hollywood avenue, as the homeless people are camping only 30 meters away from the hotel. But as this is not within hotels' control I will not downrate because of this. Staff was helpful and provides you with enough information.

Nothing to complain, staff was great and really helpful.

Comfortable stay, tasty breakfast (mostly sweet choice, burgers was difficult to warm up), very good coffee and friendly atmosphere. Great stay for groups of friends, looking for cheap b&b.

It said no smoking facility but it’s SMOKING friendly facility. You can smoke everywhere in this facility except in the room. So you get smells of smoking all the time. Even staff is smoking when they are working. If you are smoker, good to stay.

Good room with kitchen. Easy to cook in the room. Very very good for smokers as this facility is all smoking area except in the room.

Honestly there was nothing that was bad for me. I com pared to SAMESUN with their angry staff and no space for social and they can't compete.

The staff was superlative. Having stayed at some places that seem more halfway house than hostel in Los Angeles, the Banana Bungalow was a breath of fresh air. Nice, informed people who like their jobs and go out of their way to be welcoming. Imagine that in LA! the rooms have their own kitchenettes. Ample space for socializing!

I think the mattress could have been better, it was too soft. Also, we put on the cleaning sign one day and the room was not cleaned. The breakfast was not good as well. But I guess for the price and location it was alright.

The ckeck-in was ok and the staff was really nice. The room was comfortable and the freezer was a nice surprise.
