The road leading to the location can be a little tricky when oncoming traffic is also on the road, but we considered it part of our adventure.

Bear's Place Guest House was our home for 5 days and it was the perfect place to start our island stay. We spent much time on our studio's private lanai, which is surrounded by lush green plant life, and was often visited by geckos and butterflies. The coqui frogs are abundant and their nighttime songs were a perfect lullaby each night. Everything was clean and simple. The onsite laundry was a great bonus, and the location was great for us. The other guests who stayed during the same period of time were quiet and really friendly.

The chairs on the lanai were lower than this old man prefers. Air conditioning was not a must but it would have been nice given the humidity (I come from a dry climate).

The garden view/outside area was lovely. Everything was pretty much as advertised (the pictures and reality synced which is not always the case)

We stayed two separate times. The first time we had some noisy neighbors. The second time some of the cooking equipment didn't work.

It’s clearly described in the posting, but there is no cooking oil and a small amount of coffee, something I’ve come to expect from vacation rentals generally that also provide kitchen amenities.

Very convenient amenities for a single hiker--hot water pot, microwave, coffee maker. Simple but convenient. Really nice landscaping around the property!

Needed a deep clean. I’m a light sleeper & worried the noisy nighttime birds would keep me awake. But I slept well.

Nestled in tropical forest with nighttime bids & maybe frogs singing. Kind of magical! Very calming environment! Nice bed, couch & small table with 2 chairs, fridge, microwave, dishes beach towels & beach chairs.

Roosters around keep you awaken all night. Thin walls. Oceanview from higher floor is better. Next time I would ask for room on the upper floor. Also you can hear the footsteps of the people above.

Big room with cocking possibilities. Everything clean and comfy. Laundry available for 5$ Communication with Nannette was good.

After the first 2 nights, there was little to no hot water for showers. Description of room was confusing to whether we booked a garden view or an ocean view room.

We received excellent, easy to follow, instructions for finding the property before we landed on the island. We actually stayed here twice, at the beginning and end of our stay on the island. It was very quiet, apart from a lot of bird song in the evening and morning. There was plenty of parking and each space was well defined. We only met the owners for a few minutes so can't comment.

For the price I payed it would've been nice to have shampoo,conditioner and body wash in the shower instead of hand soap. Overall it was a nice comfortable room

No air conditioner or dehumidifier, and so the room was warm and muggy at times. Bathroom sink drains very slowly. The owner said they would fix that.

We stayed in the "Ginger" room. There was a microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, hot water maker. Teas, coffee, creamer, and sugar provided. Foldup beach chairs were in the room that we used at the local beaches. Queen bed was comfortable. The ceiling fan provided some air movement. There is a big screen TV with Roku provided. We watched "Paul Blart - Mall Cop 2" for free. Easy access to a nice laundry room with washer, dryer, extra towels, etc...

Despite the instructions, it was a bit difficult to reach the house since we arrived in the dark due to a flight delay

Room was good for our needs, more space for the luggage or the kitchenette would have been useful. Position in the end was good (not too far from the airport, with a nearby market shop) even if distant from the town, closer to the north west beaches. Private parking and easy going in and out.

There were two futons in our unit that were super springy so we’d stay here again as a couple but probably would not bring additional guests as those sofa beds/futons would not be comfortable to sleep on for more than a night.

Loved the high ceilings, large balcony and all the nature scenes and sounds around the property!

I was under the impression there was going to be atleast 1 bedroom with an actual door but there are no doors other then to the bathroom and a huge walk in closet.

No AC so windows are open and birds are chirping so bring ear plugs.

It’s a great bargain, quiet and nestles in a nice neighborhood backed up to some trees. The stay was great and balcony was amazing.

It was beautiful....The balcony and the birds and peace..& quiet most of the time...I only met Nanette once. She seemed great. I think the fact that the Big Island has no lites at night is a drawback for me as an older driver. Did get lost once basically couldn't see...on the road that runs right above guesthouse I adjusted after that & made it a point to get back before sunset.I would return with someone who could drive in the dark...better
