How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

First, our room was hot as heck when we arrived. The caretaker told us that the rooms temperature can only be controlled as a group of 4 rooms, that the thermostat was located in the hall way. I noticed that the thermostat for our room group was turned off, and the temperature was 74 degrees. He stated that he would turn the AC on, but that never happened. The outside temperature did dip to around 45 degrees overnight, but the thermostat in the morning still read 74 degrees, which made for an extremely uncomfortable nights sleep. The room was on the dirty side, with dust streams on the ceiling and walls.
I liked the old fashioned building and location for our needs.

Didn't stay for breakfast. No staff on duty after 9pm the hotel texted me what room I was in and the key to my room would be in the room when I arrived. Also in the text they gave me a number to text if I had any problems. After we settled into the room we turned the TV on and nothing. I text the number they gave me and no one ever texted us back to fix the problem. I asked a couple I passed in the hallway and they said they didn't turn the TV on. My husband enjoys NASCAR racing Friday nites the trucks off the weekend of racing. He was not happy said he would never recommend The Hotel Belvidere or stay there again with no staff there all night and no one to answer our text.

Interaction with another employee was negative, marked by disinterest. The quality of the food was poor, including mold on some dishes. Lack of an appropriate response to complaints about food quality.
The room was well-equipped, clean, and comfortable. A staff member stood out for her exceptional helpfulness and friendliness. The hotel's location is convenient for travelers with a car and offers a good base for various activities. The value for money of the hotel was reasonable.

I wasn’t aware it was continental until I reviewed my reservation. Online reviews spoke of a delicious sit-down.
I thought the location was small. We took it upon ourselves to go into the meeting room.

No staff at all on the premises on arrival and departure!! No other guests around. Key box very difficult to find. Breakfast was booked and paid for but not provided. The fire alarm device next to the office door was constantly beeping for "troubles with the system". Doors to office and waiting room were closed and couldn't be opened. No answer on service bell, phone, text messages and email. We received an automated message about having checked out. The invoice confirmed that breakfast was included.

Can’t adjust air conditioner, no people on the front desk at 9 pm and also I couldn’t find front desk until he opens a door after my phone call. I already checkout yesterday before 9 am but they keep sending me welcome emails.

The air-conditioning wasn't working, neither was the television. New people just took over 10 days earlier and should have a phone number to call for assistance after office hours. The air-conditioning was addressed the next morning, but that didn't help our overnight misery.
It's a beautiful hotel in a quaint town. The location is also close to nearby venues for convenience.

No air conditioning in room. Thankfully windows opened but heard road noise and dog barking much of the night. Heavy hornet presence on wraparound porch.
Very quant and charming. Was told the hotel was under new management less than a week ago.

Beautiful, quaint hotel. Warm and inviting. Loved how it was located in a quiet, historic town. Definitely that B&B feel. Will definitely return.
