Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThis is such a lovely property. We were in the area for Cornell graduation, and prolonged our stay for some hiking and exploring the finger lakes. It is a very quick and easy drive from the inn to Cornell campus, and Groton is a very nice little town with all you need to have a wonderful trip. The staff at Benn Conger is so responsive and welcoming—it feels like staying with friends or family (but only in the good ways!). My partner and I have already discussed coming back for another trip just to have an excuse to stay here again. If you are exploring the area for business or pleasure or otherwise, this is an incredible gem and delightful alternative to the occasional stuffiness of corporate hotels.

CanadaThe town is pretty empty, not much to see. However, we were in transit, so that did not affect us.
Excellent Breakfast! More like a lunch at the restaurant! Completely unexpected and a wonderful surprise!

United StatesWe absolutely loved our stay. The Inn is beautiful and our room was super cozy and comfortable. We had a fireplace and huge bathtub. We were staying over the Easter holiday and the Inn was hosting a big Easter brunch, so they put together a big basket of fruit, pastries, yogurt and other snacks for us to have so we didn’t have to attend. It was so sweet and we were able to have a nice morning picnicking on our deck. The next morning the breakfast was great. We loved our stay and will definitely come back in the future.

United StatesI stayed in the 1880 room and the layout was a bit strange with the jacuzzi tub out in the open in the bedroom and only the toilet in its own room. The drapes were also super hard to shut which was especially problematic in the toilet room when it looks out onto the street with a house directly across the way.
The staff was super friendly and very forthcoming about the history of the two properties. The buildings themselves were very quaint and beautifully appointed.

United StatesA bit of a drive from Ithaca - about 16 miles. The parking area for the Dempsey House is a little rough. The view across the street is an abandoned house, though I understand it's been bought by the inn and will be removed. Nevertheless, the neighborhood is very safe and quiet.
Great historic inn, well-preserved and appointed. A nice alternative to the big franchise hotels in Ithaca. Good deal through booking.com. The queen room in the Dempsey house was bright, well-designed, very clean and comfortable. Very quiet surroundings. Drew was very easy-going, cheerful, accommodating and helpful. The full breakfast was basic but good.

United StatesThis is a diamond that is too good to share but ... can't keep it to myself! Felt like royalty! Immaculately clean, comfortable, convenient to all the Ithica destinations. This is a "You would be blessed to get a booking" location for weddings, getaway or church retreat! In a world where service is take what you can get, this Inn is fine champagne on a real person's budget. Can't wait to return!!!

United StatesIf we would have stayed longer, the bed’s extra-firmness would have been an issue for us personally. For two nights we were just fine. Bed firmness is very subjective! Softer king beds get lumps in the middle, so for their purposes, not sure I’d change a thing!
Every year on our anniversary we like to explore somewhere new. This year was upper Cayuga Lake region. The Benn Conger Inn was the perfect base camp to explore nearby Aurora on the lake and then enjoy the dining in Ithaca. The inn is a fantastic venue spot and we were imagining how it’s beauty would be even more amplified during the spring and summer. The history is rich and it seeps from the architecture, embellishments and art throughout both buildings. Everything proclaims quality, intentionality and care, from linens to food to staff. We stayed in the Dempsey House and enjoyed having a jacuzzi and fireplace in our room. Impeccable cleanliness everywhere! We were also blessed with a bottle of local champagne and sweet welcoming card for our anniversary from the manager, Drew. Shelley, the innkeeper, is so gifted at everything she sets her heart to there. We very much enjoyed getting to chat with her during our delicious and hearty breakfasts. The family is definitely fulfilling their vision to preserve the splendid historic feel of this idyllic spot and enlarge its impact by bringing guests like us into its embrace. We enjoyed our stay so much!!
