Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesNo TV in the room? No fridge? No microwave? No AC or Ceiling fans? Fees are a bit pricey to be missing so many amenities.
Clean. Nice historic architecture, and close to the Greek Theatre.

United StatesInformation about exceptional parking fees could have been provided before one confirms the booking. Not that anyone would likely cancel over the fees - but a 4 day stay would cost well over $100 in parking fees alone.
To use the pool, needed to purchase bathing cap. Great deal at $4. Parking was $29 per day - rather exorbitant.

United Statesmy room was not for a party of 2. It also did not seem like a "Queen" size bed/room -- my daughter felt a bit claustrophobic.
it was convenient to my medical appointment and front desk staff for extremely kind and accomodating.

The place is beautiful with a lot pf atmosphere. It’s not your chain hotel room. There is a beautiful patio. The location is near downtown and the university.

United StatesThe history of the building, and experiencing Julia Morgan’s work in real time. The amount of caring details she implemented was so impressive. It is quite clear that she not only wanted to provide the women of Berkeley with a wonderful center, but one where beauty, grandeur and comfort was available to all. She gave each project on which she worked her full creative heart.

United StatesI was confused by the lack of masks being worn at wedding event on the terrace that I could see from my window. Perhaps there was an agreement. Otherwise, the hotel was very clear about its masking policy in all shared parts of hotel.
Gorgeous interiors, loved my room on top floor, access to historic pool, simple breakfast in beautiful dining room. I also loved the little courtyard and appreciated access to coffee/tea.

United KingdomThe complimentary breakfasts were very basic. Coffee, a pastry, fruit, and a small sugared yoghurt. It was nice but don’t expect any warm foods or a variety of options (at least not at this time). The shared wall in our room was quite thin and we heard our neighbors quite a bit. This is to be expected in an old heritage building but if neighbors happen to be loud you will definitely wake up. Be aware that they charge a bit for parking.
We loved the historic building with almost all original details intact. It’s really a masterpiece. Staff was wonderful. Our double room on the 5th floor was super clean and comfortable with ample wardrobes. Most importantly it had a fantastic view San Francisco from our room. The pool was another gem. A pleasure to look at and large enough for a couple of exercise swims.

United StatesWould have liked some garbage cans on our floor. We got take-out, and since there was no housekeeping for our room, it would have been nice to have a garbage can available on the floor we were on.
Love this hotel. Bedding was comfortable and room was very clean. Staff was great and wandering around the property was quite nice. This is my second stay, and we will stay again.

United StatesThe potted plants, half dead, in the black PLASTIC pots were sad and disappointing to look at. Julia would be aghast! These are on the outside of the dinning room windows. The large ceramic pots (2) that are also visible have half dead plants in them. Very disappointing because the rest of the rooms and building are kept to a standard Julia would approve of. Maybe herbs or annuals or rosemary in the pots as a suggestion.
The breakfasts were delicious and the staff was friendly and efficient. The room was comfortable to be in. The bed was friendly to my back. The shower pressure was terrific for such old plumbing. The front desk staff were welcoming and efficient. The parking was a huge advantage. So easy in and out.

CanadaWifi in the room was a bit spotty. There is no TV, but who needs TV?
Architecturally stunning, if you like 1920's Julia Morgan style. Large beautiful public rooms filled with books, even a working area with tables and free coffee, and a grand piano. Beautiful breakfast room with white table clothes and very nice pastries. An amazing ~75 ft long pool which was nearly empty in the early evening. My room had a beautiful view of the Berkeley hills. Thick towels, nice linen. Very helpful and friendly staff.

United StatesThe place is very old, and for some that may be part of its charm, but for us, it was dowdy not charming. It’s the first hotel I’ve stayed at in the last 15 years that didn’t have a television in the room. The room was very tiny And the heating system had tremendous clanks.
Not much to say positive about the property, except that the continental breakfast was very complete and nicely prepared.
