How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Was a bit pricey at $314 (total) for 3 nights in Ankeny, Iowa especially when there's no daily cleaning, taking out trash, refreshing towels, etc. Not that we needed any of that but it just seems that we pay more for less.
Lots of choices for hot or cold breakfast to eat in the dining area or back in your room. Healthy options of scrambled eggs, plain oatmeal, low sugar cereal, low sugar yogurt and fresh fruit. Cozy, comfortable, private visiting areas in lobby. Wished the pool was bigger for doing laps and/or wish there was a hot tub or sauna. Nice sidewalks in adjacent industrial park for daily walks.

I think the lighting in the bathroom could have been better. We were hoping for a hot tub.
The breakfast was good. I thought the variety might change from Sat. to Sun. but it was the same. Maybe more fruit variety.

The bathroom lighting could be brighter. I am 70+ and I had some difficulty putting on makeup due to lighting.

The room was cold and the thermostat did nothing to change things. The next am we were told by the desk that they sometimes have the rooms set so they can only change the temp from the front desk. Would be helpful for the guests to know!

Breakfast was advertised when I booked online but only bagged muffins and packaged goods offered. You need to bring back your regular breakfast, no one cares about COVID-19 anymore.

The hotel was beautiful and very clean. Loved the decor. We enjoyed playing yard games in the outside area by pond Nephews had a fun time by pool and we didn’t experience a strong chlorine smell which was nice. Beds were super comfortable. Only negative thing I could say was breakfast selection was not very good. We all could barely choke down the eggs. Maybe if there were waffles and/or French toast sticks that would have helped. Sausage was good. We would stay again. We came to the area to go to Adventureland.

Pretty loud door locks that can easily be heard every time someone opens/closes a door down the hall. Also we were there during what appeared to be a sports event so a lot of rowdy kids running the halls, looking into peep holes. Would’ve been nice to know the bar was closed.
Really liked the comfortable bed, large room, hotel decor, and location.

Beds in handicapped accessible room were too tall for elderly mom to get into without great effort on my part. My bed sheets had large dark stain that apparently didn’t wash out. Otherwise very clean and comfortable.
Close to home. Had to stay because of loss of power due to a power pole being replaced that feeds our dwelling.

No major signage so hard to find because it was located behind many other businesses Had black mold in the shower The outdoor patio furniture was dirty and had mold. The firepit was broken. The receptionist was rude to us. After paying more for this hotel the breakfast is more money. We didn’t try the breakfast because after all of the other disappointing things that we experienced we didn’t need another

Advertises free breakfast- does not include free breakfast. Only free tea and coffee available. You have to pay for everything else.

I needed more lights. Didn’t like the bathroom door. It wasn’t private. Sliding door had no privacy. Could have told us that the bathroom mirror lights up.
