Highly recommended! The owners put so much passion and attention to details into this place. Our Bamboo room was spacious, beautiful decorated with bamboo motives and very clean. There is also a large outdoor kitchen with a grill, which can be used by all guests. We had a fantastic stay and the owners even helped us when our rental car failed. Big thanks!

Long long wait for the bus service though this is nothing to do with the property.

Location 5 minute walk to beach and bus stop which takes you to downtown kona. Room spotless and bed super comfy. Self catering kitchen inside bedroom or if you need cooking facilities theres a communal kitchen area. Lovely hosts, though didn't meet in person, they were very responsive on texts and let me store my bags there for a few hours after check out.

It was not an issue for us but just note there are not cafes or restaurants in easy walking distance if you don’t have a rental car.

The retreat really felt like a home was from home. There’s a great beach across the road which has great snorkelling - including sea turtles! There are excellent shared cooking facilities and a big shopping centre less than 5min drive up the road.

Parking was a bit tricky. Just enough spaces for one car per room. Most backed in so they could get out.

Very easy walk to Kahaluu Beach Park - very good snorkeling. Our room (Oceanview) was 2 levels (bedroom/kitchenette/bathroom and a sitting area). Really did have view of ocean. Maybe the BEST thing though was the outside kitchen which we all had access to - had grill, camp stove, refrig, cupboard space for each room, table to share. It was wonderful. We cooked breakfasts and dinners there (no stove in our kitchenette). Great landscaping. Quiet (save for the roosters in the area).

There is no outdoor space in which to relax or spend time. Also, there is no air conditioning which wouldn’t have been a problem except in the Honu room, the bushes are so high outside the window that it was impossible to get a breeze from the ocean. This may not be the case in other rooms. The kitchen was really convenient to have as we made breakfast and lunches there but please know that there are no condiments, salt and pepper, or spices so you will need to bring/buy your own. And, there is only a microwave, no stove top or range. I learned how to make scrambled eggs in the microwave!

This is a beautiful, quiet spot to spend a week on the Kona coast. it is really well-managed, there is adequate parking, and the rooms are large. clean and well-maintained. wifi worked perfectly. The beach is close by and the property offers beach towels, chairs. boogie boards etc for use by the guests. Communication with the management was amazingly quick and helpful throughout our stay.

I missed that there was no AC. It ended up ok because temps dropped nicely. There is no cancellations allowed which we were considering because Hawaii was going to tighten their rules. In the future we must have an out

A bit far from downtown Kona but honestly, that’s probably preferred for the quiet.

This place is tucked up a few houses off the ocean, but has a beautiful view of the waves. The rooms were light and airy and comfortable. Communal facilities were nice and check in was a breeze! Very close to a nice beach (for snorkeling and surfing, not swimming) and a surf shop.

It was not a problem for me but you definitely hear the other guests and the neighbors. If you wanted a intimate romantic getaway like a honeymoon this place is too open.

I loved the location. It was a short walk to the closest beach and I walked to other beaches also.I loved being in a neighborhood not on "resort row." I loved the decor in the room. I wasn't sure about the screened-in porch but ended up loving the fresh air and the fans kept things cool.

Children crying and you could hear it

Beautiful place!!! First time open air living for us. The only thing is that there were small children and with open air you could hear them crying a lot, but we slept fine and understood what we signed up for. Not their fault just a chance you take if staying in an place like that. That was it everything was perfect ❤️🌈🌺

Although it said detached bathroom I didn’t realize I had to go outside, down a small sidewalk to access my bathroom ( I was in the Surfer room).

Beautifully kept, conveniently located across the street from the beach. The large outdoor kitchen had everything you could need. They really thought of everything. Beds were very comfortable.Absolutely spotless. Bonus to have a nice laundry facility on the property. Management very accommodating and kind for any needs.

Nothing we can think of--it was really superb!

Great place for our family to have a Christmas reunion. Each family had their own room and kitchenette, and we also had their largest, wonderful suite as a gathering place for the whole group--all rooms were clean and fully stocked for our use & comfort. It was within walking distance to a small beach and excellent snorkeling area. The manager was most helpful and available---we loved the Big Island Retreat! It is a very special place!

I liked the location and homey feel. We were close enough to the ocean that we could hear the waves (and the life guards during the day). Overall is was a tranquil and relaxing place to stay. Also the location to many places to dine and the sites we wanted to see.

Honestly nothing.

We loved everything about it. It was charming, very clean, we could hear the ocean at night, we loved that there was no actual exterior door, it had enough of a kitchen setup for our needs. It was a quick walk to the beach. It was far enough from the road so that you didn't hear the cars. We were visited by geckos on the patio, which was cool. The directions for our arrival were perfect.
