We had a lovely 1-week stay at Diana’s house and were able to tick all our day trips on our to-do list as the Hawaiian Ohana Home is ideally situated. The airport, city, shopping centre, Volcano National Park… are very easily accessible.

Cozy house with a beautiful owner, she always offers attention and kindness to the guests and that for me is the most important thing to find a good place to stay in my trips. She has a backyard full of fruits ready to be served at breakfast and plus she bake her own bread ❤️❤️❤️ .....

My room was very clean and neat. The common area was homey. It was a convenient location.

Host was always offering us fruit from her fruit trees, and shared her cooking whenever we were around. She also had great recommendations for places to eat. The house itself was lovely and set away from the road so my husband, lightest sleeper in the world, was able to get a good night rest.

If I could, I'd give 11 out of 1o. There was nothing she didn't anticipate and provided for. Plan to go back whenever I make my way to big island.

It's not walking distancr from much that would be of interest.

The host is a gem. I experienced great hospitality and genuine warmth. The room was spacious with a large closet area. There are multiple ways to make coffee in the kitchen (and the coffee was great). Fresh fruit was on offer every day. I've already been raving about the experience.

The kitchen cabinets doors were becoming delaminated because of the local humidity, but the kitchen was functional, clean and well-equipped.

Extremely warm and welcoming host! Diana made us feel like family from even before we arrived! Easy check in, spacious, clean accommodation in a separate 2-bedroom cottage set in a lush garden full of tropical fruit. Diana gave us fresh Hawaiian bread from the market and slices of soursop straight from her garden, which was a new and delightful taste for us!

The space is airy and inviting, and we very much appreciated the HUGE and comfortable bed after our flight from the US. Diana is extremely welcoming and gave us excellent tips for places to eat and sights around the area. It was wonderful having breakfast of fresh fruits, coffee and great conversations. We booked two rooms, both were clean and well-maintained with a lovely breeze (and fans). We will stay here again!

Could use some new cabinet doors , saw some Gecko lizards inside on the wall, I was not used to that. Mattress is super soft I prefer firm.

It had everything we needed. Good location for launching excursions in and around Hilo. Close to volcano. I would stay again.

The ocean view from the window and balcony was amazing. The host was so sweet, friendly and thoughtful, and sensitive to all our needs. The location allowed us to get to all the attractions easily, while being close to the airport.

TL;DR: super comfy, clean, and cozy; and on top of all, a wonderful owner. My best BnB experience to date. Have you ever been in this dilemma before: you love a place so much that you want everyone to know so the business would thrive, but at the same time, you want to keep it a secret and keep all of it to yourself just in case it gets too busy? That's how I feel about Hawaiian Ohana Home. Cosy, homey and clean, this place is a hidden gem nested in a residential area in Hilo, away from all the noise and bustling commercial area, yet it's within minutes of drive to the busy area of the town. Sitting on a gentle slope, Hawaiian Ohana Home also offers a great view of the surrounding area. However, what makes Hawaiian Ohana Home truly exceptional is its owner, Diana. I struggle to put it in words; in short, Diana is like that cool aunt that I never had: although we've only met, it felt like I came to visit a beloved family member. I could tell that other guests shared my feeling based on the atmosphere around the table at breakfast times, it felt like a family reunion. During my trip in Hawaii, I've learned that "ohana" means "family", and Hawaiian Ohana Home certainly is true to its name. If I'll drop by Hilo again, I know where I'll be staying at.

This is by far the best and friendliest B&B place I stayed in. Diana is amazing and giving person, makes you feel at home. Breakfast is great, loved fresh slow cooked oatmeal and papaya in the morning. Room, balcony and common area are all very comfortable and nicely decorated. Great place to meet fellow travelers. Would love to come back. Thanks for great stay!

Diana’s hospitality is just unbelievable! Everything from comfy bed, nice bright room, amazing view from the porch, delicious breakfast, little chit-chat with our host every day...everything made us feel like we were visiting our family. Its a lovely place and we would definitely come back!!!
