Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesStove has one that is broken. Electricity does not come on in time. It supposed to be working start at 7am, but starts around 7:15am instead. During windy time, boat pound on the wall all the time which was a bit noisy.
Good value with the utilities. Still the cheapest and don't need to share with people like hostel. Quiet and no one bartering.

United StatesBetter directions & signage to find the cabin, once inside the gate, at night. As it was very dark.
I booked 2 nights, left my things in the room during the day. I required a refund on 1 cleaning fee, as I didn't need it & requested that it be left alone. I never heard back from anyone & the fee was not refunded. I'd appreciate that being taken care of!

United StatesThe sound of the reverse osmosis water tank going off all the time---it woke us up several times. Also, you need to tell people to rent a 4-wheel drive if they are to stay with you----the road (2 miles, unpaved, filled with potholes---should be noted in your description.
Very cozy---it really had everything we needed.

Value for money; the service. The host was very responsive on our request. They explained when the ceiling light cannot be fixed.

United StatesThe location is difficult to find, the address is not existing in google, so it took us a while to find it in the middle of the rainy night. The toilet is in the bedroom, that is quite uncomfortable and inconvenient, being and open space, so you are pooping while the other person is having breakfast, pretty much in the same room.
It’s cheap and good enough for 1-2 nights. It is surrounded by trees and vegetation. No contact check in and check out.

ArmeniaThe only thing I would add (maybe I missed it) would be salt/pepper shakers in the room and a potholder.
Exactly as it was advertised. Rustic, yet accommodating and comfy. Close to the park, off the typical tourist trail and out in nature.

AustraliaSize of the eski/fridge…a little bit bigger would be better especially if staying longer than 3 nights.
In the middle of rainforest country, the perfect place to detach, unwind and escape the hustle and bustle of tourist towns. Super convenient if visiting the volcanoes national park, only a 35 min drive up the road. I also loved how the facilities were super basic and powered off a generator as it added to the feel of being in the middle of nowhere. Additionally you’ll have 100’s of coqui frogs singing songs in 360 surround for half the night while light rainforest rain falls…

Canada99% of it. Was unable to get in touch with the host, the cabin was pretty dirty. There was nothing to shower with (soap, towels, shampoo). The kitchens pots/pans were all burnt. I smelt very moldy. The pool outside was falling apart & the tarp over it was sunken in & ripped. I didn’t feel safe in the cabin or area it was in. There was dirt on every ledge. There was a dead spider on my pillow…
The outside of the cabin looked cool. That’s about it.

United StatesI came in quite late & had a difficult time locating the cabin in the dark. A bit better signage would be helpful.
I had 2 separate reservations, one night after the other. I communicated with the owner er as to leaving my things in the cabin & not needing it to be cleaned between the 2 days. He responded with his ability to refund 1 night's cleaning fee. He did not know how to do that. Can that be done via this email request? I would like 1 day's cleaning fee to be refunded. Thank you.

United StatesWe walked in, turned around and walked out and left, forfeiting our one night stay payment. The toilet is in the same room as the bed, I did not know that till after I booked. That photo was not on the first page. There was no window on loft bedroom. Mosquitos attacked us as soon as we walked in. You cannot drink the tap water, the website should say to bring your own bottled water. No drinking glasses, only two coffee cups. There is no real refrigerator, just and electronic cooler.

SpainI could not make it to the place and I got lost at night in the middle of a gravel road in the forest. I followed the instructions I had as well as google maps. I completed the same way 4 times but I was not able to find the place since it is not visible at night. I also called the property for help. They made me feel bad for haven’t taken the right way and denied my request to come pick me up even thought I was on the hotel’s road. I left to Hilo and didn’t get refunded. The property hosts did not care about my situation. They did not worried even thought I didn’t checked in, and knowing that I was lost and needed help.

United StatesA couple miles of dirt road can be difficult for a rental car but I took it slow and it was ok.
I liked living in the rainforest in a camping style cabin that had electricity and hot water. I liked the sounds of the forest and the gentle rain at night. It’s great for those who want to experience rural Hawaii rainforest living.

United StatesIt was dirty, moldy, and the site is right next to a very noisy water filtration system. Yard is full of junked cars. Rental was full of mosquitoes-no screens where needed. It felt toxic to enter cabin #2 because of mold - sickening especially to anyone with respiratory issues. We could not stay there. We talked with the on site owners, who said they’d refund our money-and then refused to do so. The owners were untrustworthy, very cagey and difficult to deal with. We felt scammed by them. The owners have no “Aloha “. We think Booking.com should remove this property from their listings.
Not much. The owners have an engaging preschool age son.
