Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.

United StatesOur rooms were 2 floors apart, but that may have been due to choosing 2 different layouts of rooms. I was very nervous that the place would be as we expected - # of beds etc. - because there were not pictures off each actual room. Getting 'check-in instructions just 24 hours before is also stressful because we had already started to travel without knowing these details. The automated emails didn't always have all of the details - for example we booked 2 rooms but only got check-in instructions for 1, and we reserved a parking space but needed to reach out to find out if we needed to print out a parking pass before we left. The management company was very responsive to questions, which was great, but would have been even better to not need to ask them.
Rooms were very clean and comfortable, very well maintained, and location was perfect for BU activities. The management company was responsive to questions.

The room was lovely. Clean, modern, and more spacious than we expected. The murals in the hallway were beautiful but showed some wear. The woodwork on the stairways was amazing.

United StatesThe entry procedure is extremely cumbersome. I did not receive the checking in form and access code 24 hours in advance as I was told to expect. There is no staff at the location and I had to make two phone calls from the lobby, with texting included , to learn which unit was ours and how to get in. Also had to upload a photo of my driver’s license, mid phone call, which I felt was excessive. The person I spoke to was courteous but the whole process was complicated and unpleasant. Some street noise is expected and was tolerable but people in the unit above were very noisy and seemed to be dragging furniture around (?) all night and till 4 AM.
Although the door says “B&B” there is no food provided here. The kitchen had enough equipment but poor quality Nespresso machine. The location was perfect for our purposes. The unit itself is lovely. Clean, elegant, sparsely furnished but adequate sleeping space for the five of us. Heated bathroom floor was a big plus. Two fireplaces but didn’t work.

United StatesI do think the pre-communication about check-in could be a little more clear. I'm glad I had a contact (via text) for the management company, because after reading some reviews about "security issues" I started to panic a little about staying here. Alas, they put my mind at ease, and helped me understand how to check-in/use my code/unlock and unlock the unit's door (which if I'm being honest, the storage of the physical key could be a *little* more secure.) Just do your research with parking! The hotel offers a spot which I thought was pricey, until we had to park overnight at a garage (for $90!!!). On weekends, Boston street parking is free, and there were plenty of spots to be found!
The location was perfect! We walked most place, except for when we traveled into Boston. The unit was very clean and spacious and slept 4 people comfortably. (Beds were super comfy!) The little kitchenette was an added and convenient bonus. Both the unit and the bathroom were also very clean. We were in the lower level which I was also worried about, but it was actually rather nice! There were still windows for natural light.

United StatesIT IS NOT A HOTEL. It is essentially an Airbnb, with multiple units in the same building. I asked them multiple times prior to traveling if it was a hotel, and they kept telling me it was, but it is not. To get in you use a keypad. Somehow my code got reset on the second day so I couldn’t access my unit. And there is no one onsite. Eventually they resolved the issue remotely but they then I had already left to go somewhere. And then my code was changed the whole rest of the trip. Additionally, there was no daily housekeeping and they couldn’t keep our suitcases after check out. So again, it’s not a hotel. It was very nice but I think they should market it for what it is.

United StatesThe room was not the cheapest available and unfortunately was on the first floor so not much of a view. The front window was blocked directly by a large tree and rear looked out to a parking lot. Also, I expected a bit of noise being so close to Kenmore and near traffic, but the street traffic and pedestrians were still a bit louder than expected. Again, I think being on the first floor didn't help.
Location is fantastic, so convenient to everything in Boston. The place is very clean, greatly furnished and very comfortable.

United KingdomNo criticisms as such but would have benefited with instrucrions on use of the baffling air-conditioining syatem, and being told of the necessity to lock the suite door from the inside before going out or going to sleep at night as the locking system was/is not auto-locking on door closure. Also, and have said this alteady, a simple improvement would be to privide more hanging spaces for coats just insode the suite door and for towels in the bathroom.
Superb facilities and location. The auto check in and check out worked well too with good communicatons from the operator.

PanamaWe did have an issue with the circuit breaker that was not working properly the first night. This made us unable to use the outlets in the living room and bedroom as well as the TV. I was able to fix this issue with the help of the email concierge person later that evening and thankfully we did not have to move to the unit next door which was offered to us because we really enjoyed our space after we unpacked and set off for the evening. Also, when we turned on the oven to heat up leftovers, the oven circuit breaker went out. We just decided to heat up food on the stove top.
Breakfast was not offered during my stay. The apt was very clean and welcoming with a clean smell throughout. Ceilings were high giving a wide open feel to the place. The towels were thick, soft and clean as well as the bedding. The entire apt was spotless. The kitchen was stocked with clean useful cutlery and very nice pots and pans. The dishwasher was also a very nice touch. The front bay windows made the apt very bright during the day and we did not need to turn on the lights. The kitchen was also very clean as well as the fridge. We didn't mind the 3 floor walk-up because the lobby was so pretty with the wall murals and the stairs were padded with carpet and wide enough for 2 persons to walk up side by side as well as air-conditioned. The location was also perfect. 10 min walk to Fenway and 10 min walk to Berklee College. Plenty of fine restaurants within walking distance. Automated climate control worked excellent.

United StatesWe couldn’t find any real problems with Charlesgate Suites.
The check in was flawless, all done by an electronic key pad. The entrance is beautiful, well lit, with the charm of old Boston with its hand painted wallpaper and winding staircase. Our suite on the second floor was easy to get to and had more than enough room for my husband and I. It was very open, airy, and clean, with a kitchenette stocked with dishes, pots, pans, silverware, all you needed to make a meal. There is also a Nespresso Machine which worked nicely and gave a yummy cup of coffee as we sat and relaxed on the couch. The bathroom is large, the shower worked perfect and the water pressure was amazing. The bed was so comfy, I think we slept the whole night through. Also you couldn’t hear the Boston traffic, which was a plus. We did reserve a parking spot for the time we were there which worked out great, we could see our car from the room. The owners were very attentive and informative, texted us all the information for check in and out the day before arrival. We could get in touch with them by text and they always returned the text within a few hours. We will definitely go back.
