Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. United StatesWe never could get the main floor fireplace to work or the one on the porch. Even after buying fire wood, the firepit would not light. We had trouble getting the kitchen stove to light. The clock in the main floor bedroom will not let you set the minutes.
The lodge was beautiful and we loved the seclusion of the property. The lodge was so spacious with plenty of space for the teenagers to do their own thing. We loved the table in the kitchen. Plenty of space for all of us.

United StatesWe don't have anything negative to say. There were some hiccups with the holidays and previous renters, but that is out of anyone's control.
The cabin is beautiful and spacious. Loved that everyone had their own space as well as practically sound proof. Kids were playing downstairs while movies or games on the main level, and when doors were shut, you heard nothing. We enjoyed being so close to downtown and nearby hiking opportunities. If there were any issues or concerns, our hosts were quick to respond and attend to them accordingly. It was a perfect distance for our northern family to meet us as we drove up from the south. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and family trip.

United StatesNothing - other than Waze taking us the wrong way - up and down a mountain only to have to turn around and go around the mountain. Used Google Maps and it was fine.
Beds were soft and comfortable, house was roomy and had plenty of space for our party of 11. Hosts were responsive. Lots of space to park! We were able to park in the garage, which was a nice bonus.

United StatesI can’t think of anything that we didn’t like. It might be nice to have a list of dishes, appliances (crockpot, bed maker, etc) and spices available for people who like to cook while there.
The location was not too far from town, but it was far enough away that you felt like you were the only cabin around. All of the rooms were spacious with completely comfortable beds. The cabin had everything we needed. We already have plans to return!
