The grounds were full of green, trees and flowers!!! Beautiful scenery next to the ocean. Very pretty! Food was delicious. Pool was great temperature.

Breakfast was ok, but most food gone near the end of the time. WiFi was bad in my room. Had to go outside and walk towards the office to get the internet. As a result, my phone and computer could connect in my room. This should be fixed. No AC, but weather was ok, and we slept with the windows open.

Beautiful spot, one of the best views ever of the ocean.

The water pressure in the shower was ridiculous making showering a frustrating experience. The parking is very limited and spaces are tight.

The view of the ocean was amazing as was the relaxing breeze and sounds of the waves crashing onto the rocks. The grounds around the pool and patio/Resturant area were well kept and added to the serenity of the stay. Also, appreciated that this hotel is small and so has limited number of guests, which keeps it quiet and relaxing.

The free breakfast was adequate but a bit disappointing. By the time we arrived at 8:45 the fresh fruit was all gone. It appeared that nothing was replenished.

The room was clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. The view from the room was beautiful and the sound of the surf was relaxing.

Breakfast was disappointing. There was only one meal allowed from the breakfast menu. I ordered yoghurt with fruits and paid extra, but the yoghurt was not delivered. The eggs weren't cooked as I asked, and the portions were small. Sunday breakfast was junk food, no hot food at all.

The bathroom (shower/toilet area) is in desperate need of an update! Otherwise room & vanity area are fine.

The view & location are among the best you can get on the CA coast. All rooms have a view of the ocean. There is a nice pool surrounded by lawn & plenty of lounge chairs just feet away from the waves. There are tables/chairs for restaurant dining or to have your own picnic. Buffet breakfast is nothing special but enjoying it outside by the ocean is wonderful. It's an easy walk to 2 small low tide beaches & the bike trail runs right by hotel. The staff is very nice.

The breakfast was not Gluten Free friendly. The cakes and pastries looked delicious. I was not able to enjoy them, myself.

The view was absolutely amazing!! I have never seen a hotel light up the ocean for the perfect evening ambience. My sister and I sat out on the balcony huddled in blankets to enjoy the evening view. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. She took the time to make dinner reservations for us at Shoal.

The rooms are rather tired and need thorough upgrading. The cost is very high; you are paying mostly for location, location, location.

The view was tremendous and the pool wonderful. Staff was kind and parking easy just outside the door. The breakfast o the patio was great.

Our room and bathroom had windows that were right next to the public restaurant entrance. There was a gap between the blinds and you could see directly into our room. We had to put a towel over it to protect our privacy. Also, maintenance on the pool wasn't kept through the week...only on the weekend. So when we wanted to use it we couldn't because there was waste from seagulls floating in it.

Love the view and sound of the ocean! Staff were very accommodating. Centrally located between Santa Barbara and LA. Continental breakfast was good. Bed was super comfy.

I booked Room number 9 and all was fine except the water in the shower kept turning from hot to cold every few seconds, there is a plumbing issue. At first I thought it was many other guests using it at the same time but that was not the case as I took a shower twice at different times , for that reason alone I will not choose this option again. Also I ate dinner at the restaurant, Both my wife and I ordered fish and chips and maybe this was a poor choice but the fish was very salty and I ended up drinking water all night , everything else was fine. From what other guests ordered the presentation of the dishes was excellent, my wife is a professional chef and recognized and commented on this. For the mere fact that I had a most uncomfortable experience with a hot/cold shower it was not worth the price of the room, When you are bone chilled from the surf it is the most important factor to make the stay a memorable experience, hot water is a must. There was no "in room" coffee maker or coffee or tea like nearly all hotels I've ever booked , Gotta have coffee when the restaurant is not open

The proximity to the beach is great, the grounds were well kept all of the tables and grounds were washed every morning. The views were magnificent yet a quiet area. The main positive about this area on highway ! is that it is a very small hamlet on the coast with very limited development so not as crowded as other hotels in tourist areas. Apparently all of the rooms have an ocean view and the beds are comfortable but bring your own pillow

We were concerned we would not be able to find parking but then a space opened up. It was late, we were in bed and we got a knock on the door that they had not closed a tab from a drink and coconut shrimp outside before we ate dinner in their restaurant and needed our credit card. We accommodated them while they ran down and charged our card and came back up for signature. We did not know why they didn't charge it to our room. We sat inside for dinner to celebrate our anniversary and we were surprised that such a nice place would use the restaurant as a "stock room" to stock extra supplies along the wall and on top of the bar for catering or special parties perhaps...not sure. It made the restaurant fell like we were eating in the back with the supplies.. not romantic with such an AMAZING view and location. We were told that breakfast was "awesome" as it was included. We found little breads and little muffins and cereal and boiled eggs. Not the breakfast we were expecting but we were Ok with it anyway.

We were celebrating our 23 anniversary. We loved our room with the ocean view and felt it was wonderful value. The staff was very helpful and went out of their way to serve a drink from the bar when they said they had just closed. We ate at the restaurant for dinner to celebrate our anniversary. Dinner was excellent!
