Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. United StatesNeeded plastic wrap for leftovers and a dishcloth. Dishwasher worked but wasn't secured and the entire machine would fall forward.
Very comfortable beds! Everything we needed to cook meals (except the food)! Nice TV menu. Quiet area on a beautiful tree lined street close to downtown. Both assigned and street parking. Felt very comfortable with security, and communication with the owner was quick and friendly.

United StatesOn the property other people staying there had left trash around on the grounds, including a dirty diaper. It was a bit confusing on where to park and how to get to the front door. I think there could be more communication about that.

United StatesWe had a bit of miscommunication with the unit number, so we were trying to go to the wrong unit until we sent a message to the property and received a prompt response to get to a different unit. We stayed on the main floor and the people above us were quite loud and we could hear them walk around until it was later at night. There was no light outside the apartment after dark.
The communication was excellent prior and during the stay. The place was clean and had everything we needed.

United StatesNo drink glasses in the kitchen cabinet, except for 2 champagne flutes??? There were coffee cups and small children's plastic cups, but no typical drink/water glassware. No dishwasher pods. King bed in a bedroom better suited for a double made it very cramped, getting in and out of the bed. Vent in the ceiling of the bathroom was hanging by 1 screw. Surface light over the stove was burned out. These are all things that can easily be fixed, but someone (housekeeping?) is not doing their job.
Clean, comfortable, good value, and location. Nice functional kitchen. Good washer/dryer.

United StatesOur stay was nice, but unfortunately my husband lost a lens to his prescription glasses overnight. Of course he did not realize this until the drive home. We have tried every avenue we can find to reach someone to help locate it. Absolutely zero response. Now it will cost us over $700 to replace the lenses. HORRIBLE customer service! Will not be staying at any property this company manages again.
