Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United StatesEVERYTHING!!!!! See the notes I wrote above! When someone calls the property to confirm a room and advise of a late arrival apparently it is VERY IMPORTANT SO DON’T GIVE AWAY THEIR ROOM!
I confirmed my room with the property front desk at 2pm on the day of check in and told them I would be arriving late. I offered to prepay my room. When I arrived at 8:40pm my room had been sold to someone else. I was then sent to the NASTIEST hotel (dirty socks were in the elevator, the room smelled of BO) in the city 17 miles away from the cancer clinic where I had an appointment the next morning. This hotel was virtually across the street from the cancer clinic. This was a horrific experience on top of the fact that I had just been diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer!!!!!!!

United StatesThis was, by far, the worst motel/hotel I’ve ever stayed. It was disgusting. Everywhere I looked there was something nasty. My bathroom had hairs all over the place. The toilet was broken-it needed a new ball cock and it sounded as if someone was taking a bath our entire time there. When I stepped in the tub to take a shower, it was so relaxing for my feet to be in an inch of cold water (I don’t want to even think about what had been in that water before I stepped in it). The tub drain was surrounded by green mold, I’m guessing. The bathroom vent had a quarter inch of dust all over it. Even the hallways weren’t clean. I saw a dried, brown liquid residue on most of the door frames. The television had maybe ten channels and none of them were premium. An hourly rental motel would be cleaner than this place. I’ll never stay at another Courtyard Marriott because of this stay. I regret not taking pictures for others considering staying here.
