Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesNothing! The room was a little small, but it had everything we needed. And the location, cleanliness, charm, and our hosts made up for it.
Our visit to the Creekside Lodge was perfect and incredibly relaxing. Todd went above & beyond to connect with us and make sure every aspect of our stay was delightful. He is a fountain of knowledge about Markleeville. The rooms were sparkling clean and cute, and the bed was super comfortable - we had our best sleep in ages. We enjoyed our morning coffee outside our room, looking out over the beautiful Carson River. We had bagels across the street at the Upcountry Cafe while listening to the best ever R&B collection (put together by the chef). Saletti's Stonefly restaurant across the road was a lively and a delicious experience in fine dining: definitely reserve ahead. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Creekside and in Markleeville, as we continue to celebrate our yearlong 50-year anniversary. We will definitely return.

United Statesgood set up for "vending" area (everything is free) but no ice machine, no in-room coffee maker.
Center of town and yet also feels like you're in the wilderness with the river visible from some rooms right outside the door. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

This location is very remote but conveniently located only 25 min away from my favorite Kirkwood ski destination. On top of it, it is only 3 miles away from Grove National State Park with lots of hiking trails and amazing Hotsprings opened to the public ( there are only 4 times you can use it though, just check in advance)! The town is very small and only has two places to eat and tiny convenience store. But if you like outdoor adventures and to be away from hustle and bustle of busy South lake Tahoe, this place is the best!!! The staff on duty is only 9-5pm. But they leave you a very thorough voice message on the phone in advance with instructions if you arrive after business hours. It s very convenient so you do not have to deal with reception etc. Check out is super easy! Just leave the keys inside the room and open the blinds so they see you left. I also love that there is separate little room with coffee, hot chocolate, hot/cold water filter and condiments. So you can have little something in the morning and warm your soul with sweet hot chocolate during the day. I love it!!!

United StatesThe Booking.com listing advertised a "deluxe king studio" with hot tub & kitchen. For all that, the rate of $170 seemed reasonable. Instead, we had a queen room (quite lovely in and of itself) and not even a refrigerator. The manager wasn't around when we checked in, but the next morning all he said was, "Yeah, we've been trying to get the listing changed." It may be that $170 is the going rate in that area, because it's a very small town without many other options, I think.
The room was updated like a boutique hotel, very pleasant and comfortable, though small. Exterior has a rustic charm. (Warning: Rooms were off a walkway that required us to lug our bags from the street.) Excellent location: Inn is located next to a brew pub and across from an upscale restaurant (advance reservations recommended -- we ended up at the brew pub because wait was going to be an hour).

United StatesAfter we paid (and left), they wanted to add a fee for our dog they had not disclosed before we arrived. Then they said thy needed to do a ‘deep cleaning’ because of our dog who has arthritis and was unable to move around the room on their wood floor. We kept her on a carpet we brought from home. She never even roamed around the room. Except for not making the bed, we left the room as we found it.
Clean, convenience to restaurants next door. The innkeeper was really nice.

United StatesUnfortunately the parking is not that straightforward. The small parking lot in front of the building doesn't belong to the Lodge. Anybody who isn't a guest can take up all the space and you wind up finding a parking spot along the road... which has happened to me.
Very clean! Pleasant interaction with the staff. Nice atmosphere in the room. The place is kept in good shape! Nice low key high end restaurant in town.

United StatesI asked for a room in the front, which I was given. The only problem is that if you open your blind you will be on display to the restaurant across the street and the smokers outside your window where the benches are.
Todd was very kind helping me get situated and parking my motorcycle. The room was very clean and comfortable.

United StatesNot anything I can think of thought I was in a real rush to check in as I was late for a wedding and couldn’t immediately find the office. Might have been a sign I missed in my hurried state though.
The room was clean, everything worked, and the large bed was very comfy. Also, the staff member I checked in with was very friendly and efficient. I also liked the location as it is right in the heart of town.

United StatesI had Wi-Fi issues because my room was too far from a booster. Markleeville on a Tuesday has no open restaurant. I had to drive 20+ miles to dinner and another back. Beautiful town tho and the drive south the next morning to the 395 was worth every inconvenience.
It was very comfortable and the staff was super helpful and friendly.
