A fantastic overnight stay among the redwoods

Had a minor phone miscommunication due to there being a 3-day onsite music festival at Dawn Ranch but all was resolved when we arrived. Would recommend the property not gift splits of Korbel Champagne even though it is just down the road. There are so many better wineries also nearby!

Dawn Ranch is lovely - the property is situated in a redwood grove and it is deeply soothing to walk around and see these magnificent giants towering over everything. The cabins are darling; compact and efficient with comfy bedding, terrific towels and spa-quality bathroom products (Le Labo). We took advantage of a last-minute upgrade offer and switched to a meadow-facing chalet. A giant redwood was right outside the window....,maybe 9-10 inches away. We could have touched it if we had opened the window but my fear of mosquitos kept it closed! We ended up canceling our anniversary dinner reservation (which was about 30 minutes away) to instead enjoy the beautiful terrace and exceptional cuisine at The Lodge. Guerneville is compact and charming; we walked to get ice cream and coffee the first afternoon and then borrowed the resort's complimentary bicycles to head over to Baked on the River for a delicious breakfast in their riverside garden. Overall, a terrific getaway right here in the greater Bay Area!

A bit pricey. No table or chair in the room, although lots of places to sit outside in public spaces. For inclement weather, would have liked a larger common space for reading/games etc. Walkable to town and close to Armstrong Woods and the redwoods .

Beautifully landscaped and tranquil among the redwoods. Loved the meditation offering. Outside bath was fabulous! Think sauna/steam room use should be offered for free if you purchase any other treatments.

Wish our cabin was on the main side where everything was, we were on other side so it wasn’t easy accessible to restaurant, lobby and activities.

Very pretty cabins and grounds were amazing. Nice toiletries!

Be sure to ask if you’ll be staying in free standing cabins onsite or across the street at sister location that’s been acquired. We were initially disappointed to have to run across the highway and being down the road from the onsite facilities, but ultimately it didn’t prove to be that long a walk or big deal despite being an initial disappointment and surprise.

Attractive facilities, very friendly staff, quality restaurant, cozy bar, simple but attractive and well appointed rooms, and walkability to Town huge plus. I’ve been coming here for over 20 years through various iterations, and it just keeps getting better as “the” place to stay in Guerneville!

    - only downside was the noise isolation. The room was located nearby the main road going through town (even though we could not see it). We can hear cars and trucks passing by since early morning. It was possible to slightly hear the mumble of people chatting in the next door room. Although nothing too disturbing.

+ great location in center of Guerneville, very easy to walk around. + room was picture accurate, very comfortable, with a bedroom space and a reading space. + all well equipped with small fridge, AC perfectly working, windows would open if needed with protection against bugs and mosquitos. Bed was very comfortable. + bathroom working perfectly, including soaps and other care products provided. + very reliable and fast wifi. + great nature environment, great view.

We didn't love the morning coffee in the tea bags.

Everything was beautiful and nice from the front desk people to the spa experience. We also loved borrowing the bikes and riding to Armstrong Redwoods National Reserve. The flowers and landscaping are also beautiful on the grounds.

There were no surfaces (dresser, table, chairs, something) that allowed for both of us to unpack our stuff for the weekend. Not a big deal, just a minor inconvenience.

We stayed at one of the cabins with a little outdoor table, which was great to hang out in the evening and enjoy breakfast. Everything was very clean. It was perfect for a relaxing weekend :)

The staff were welcoming from the beginning! We were there to celebrate a birthday and they had a card presented in the room when we walked in. The room was very cute and clean. I loved all the attention to detail. The grounds were stunning and we were lucky enough to stay on a night where live music was playing. We enjoyed the amenities all around the property - corn hole, restaurant, firepits, and close proximity to the river and downtown Guerneville. In the morning, they dropped off a little basket of pasties as well which we enjoyed with coffee on the little patio. Will definitely return!

We went mid-week for a relaxing getaway. The room was still over $300/night with resort fees added on. However during the week the property has hardly any amenities available. No wine tastings, just one yoga class. The restaurant on site wasn’t even open for dinner. We were told it’s expensive to staff multiple shifts of employees to keep the restaurant open but they didn’t mind charging me for resort fees and an expensive room. I don’t think it’s worth the money as there are many other options nearby.

It’s a nice location but a little odd in layout. We were in a cottage across the street and had to cross the street with no crosswalk to get to main property.

Rooms/ Cabins too small, beach access advertised but pretty limited to say the least, food and resturant service way below par, made a reservation as soon as we got there, went back for dinner and the gentleman that took the reservation couldn't find it but seated us anyway.

Quaint ,friendly staff for the most part, great location with good outdoor space and a good bar when its open.

Room was no bigger than a big tent and there was no lay space. We had to put everything around the floor, like we would in a tent. For almost $500 a night with taxes, fees, etc. it was not worth it. We could have gotten something a little farther away with more space and AC and private bathroom.

The location was the biggest bonus. They had AC which was absolutely necessary in the scorching heat. The breakfast was nice and the surrounding redwoods were beautiful. Nice bathroom.
