Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThere was a fair amount of dust on the blinds in the bathroom. I have allergies, so i felt like it contributed somewhat to aggravating those issues.
Very nice staff. I felt right at home, from the start! The location is perfect..away from noise/traffic, except the occasional train. Enjoyed looking at all the antiques, and reading some of Sherlock Holmes (found in my room’s bookshelf)! The porch was ideal to sit and chat/read. Breakfast was great and cozy.

United StatesCoffee was not available until 8 am - for early birds that too late! So we drove to the nearest coffee shop each morning. There was no access to ice etc. after a certain time in the afternoon. There were lots of small decorative items on the dressers - while they added to the charm of the room, there was not a lot of space for travel stuff. Had to move them to a side table so nothing got broken.
Neat, cozy place. Easy drive to the park. Relaxing to sit on the porch and watch the trains.

United StatesThe room was small, with no real surfaces on which to write or read and walls seeming a bit crowded with pictures. Other than the caves, there was little else nearby, for example dining, shopping, etc. While the hosts were accommodating to us, we think that having coffee, tea and a microwave oven available to all guests throughout normal waking hours would increase the guests' convenience. An intriguing library in the house caught our attention, but signs made it clear that the books were to be viewed on the shelves and not taken down and perused further.
The location was excellent, in proximity to Mammoth Caves National Park and at least one private cave, the main attractions of the area. The Victorian house was full of vintage furnishings and decorations, and the hosts strove to be helpful. Also, except for the trains which periodically pass, the spot was peacefully quiet. The breakfasts were tasty and ample.

United StatesThe biggest negative that people need to know about this place: It's literally 100 feet from a busy railroad track. Trains came rumbling past every 2-3 hours the entire night, blowing their horns and shaking the room. It's SO loud and totally impossible to sleep through!! Another unexpected thing: our room had a gas fireplace in it that would periodically turn itself on and off. We couldn't find a thermostat or any other way to control it. It's not a problem, just kind of odd to have a haunted fireplace in your room... Also, just be aware that since this is more of a B&B and not a big hotel, there are limited check-in hours (3-5pm) and no staff on duty overnight.
The breakfast was great and the owner was super friendly. It was easy to park and convenient to bring things into our room since we had a room with a private entrance onto the porch. The room had everything we needed, including good pillows, a rare find in hotels these days. Location is great for going to Mammoth Cave National Park.

United StatesEverything was great! The only thing to even mention is the location of the Inn to the train track. To be honest, I was tired and didn't wake up once. But, if you are a light sleeper, you may hear the train go by. But that is the only thing I can think of.
Loved the decor/antiques/history of the Inn. Bed was VERY comfortable, and one of the owners, Karin, was there when we checked in. She was very friendly and the room had everything we needed. I actually wish we could have stayed another night. We definitely plan on staying here again in the future!

United StatesI did not like that we could not stay longer. It was a very interesting setting, and I would’ve loved to have more time to explore.
This is an exceptional historic property that was brought back from ruins and carefully rehabbed for use by modern travelers. The owners have had experience in doing this, and are providing a very comfortable and memorable stay. The queen bed was comfortable as were the bed linens. A bottle of water was provided for each of us and the bathroom was huge…with shampoo, shower gel and facial soap provided. We have always lived where the sound of a train was prevalent in our lives. This is right by an active rail line and the train runs through it. For us, it was very soothing. If that is not part of your life it could be a distraction. For us, it was delightful.
