In the night, it was a bit difficult to find he entrance from the main highway. Larger signboard at the entrance from highway would help.

View of Pacific Ocean from upper deck is gorgeous. Feeling like waking up at a farm with cows and pigs roaming in the morning. Breakfast at the upper deck including fresh fruits and juice was just nice to kick start the day.

The room was small but the private lanai really helped to add floor space. Not in walking distance to any beach or tourist destination but that meant it was quiet for sleeping.

Really enjoyed our stay here. The host was kind and patient in giving us a lot of background on the area and places to visit. Breakfast was wonderful with fresh fruit, fresh coffee, delicious breads, etc. WiFi was good. The morning parade of birds, goats, cows, chickens, pigs, etc at the property, off the breakfast deck was always entertaining. Beach chairs were appreciated. The hosts really makes this place special.

Dining was a bit of a chore. Although there are some roadside restaurants not far the food was fine but not great. We picked up some cheese and crackers to supplement our meals.

This place is a bit funky on the side of the mountain overlooking the ocean and cows with wonderful sunset views. You hear the frogs (coquis) at night and get a feel for the real Hawaii. There is nothing fancy here but if you want to get a feel for Hawaii away from the resorts this is it. Great breakfasts at 8 am. A small fridge to you can enjoy a cold beverage while watching the sunset. Also GREAT snorkeling at 2-step beach.

I only have minor complaints, no dealbreakers. The property is right off the main highway and the driveway is narrow. Pay close attention to your GPS and signal your turn early. The tree frogs are noisy at night, but they are hard to avoid on the big island.

Breakfast was delicious with gourmet coffee. The private lanai had a nice view of park lands and wildlife. We borrowed some of the snorkel gear that they provided for guests. The location was convenient for getting to the Captain Cook monument and two step snorkeling. Carl and his German Shepherd Rex were gracious hosts. We thought Hale-Hoola was a great value for staying near Kona.

There was a bit of a smell from the plug so if you forgot to put the plug in the bathroom would smell bad.

The hosts were lovely, the greeted us and gave us some local information of the area. Great recommendations for food places and beaches to go to. Breakfast was lovely, really nice to try the local fruits grown on the property

Great small B&B in the Captain Cook area of the Big Island. In a quiet, more rural setting than Kona to the north, which was great. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the breakfasts were great. Nice view in the back out towards the Ocean with nice sunsets, and the breakfast is served on a lovely patio. Would highly recommend.

    Everything was great!

What a wonderful relaxed place. Loved the substantial breakfast on the upper lanei with the birds to watch. Our room faced the ocean and the sunset and had its own private lanei. We could bring food back from local restaurants and there was a microwave. It was a brilliant location for the national park and Two Steps snorkelling. Our hosts were very welcoming. Lovely comfy bed. Beach equipment provided too.

    Not much to complain about.

Elma and Carl were nice, personable hosts. When we experienced some delays on our arrival day, they were flexible with the check-in time. They do everything around the house: cleaning, food and management. Rare in these days of impersonable AirBnBs.

Although correct in general terms, the owner made us feel quite bad about a silly "incident". During our breakfast, we realized that the milk (from an already half empty bottle) smelled too hard and we told the owner about that (there wasn't too much milk left, and of course we don't want to take unnecessary risks while on holidays). But the owner, visibly upset with our comment, brought another bottle of milk, filled 2 glasses of milk, each one from each bottle, and tell us to explain if there was a difference, because both were white. An absolutely unnecessary and unpleasent moment. Absolutely innapropiate from a host

Excellent breakfast. Nice room with a very nice balcony with very good views.

The slight downside is lack of AC - we weren't around much during the day - once the sun went down there was a nice breeze that came in and it was chilly by early morning hours. Definitely manageable. Even with the screen on the door and windows we did get a few mosquitoes in the room which were annoying. All in all I would stay again

Our Hosts were very helpful & kind. The view from our room and lanai was beyond expectations. The breakfasts were very good (fruit every morning! bacon & an egg protein based main with a bread item) - more than I can eat! We seldom heard other guests. We had a mini fridge and use of a microwave in the common area. Space & amenities were well thought out. Snorkeling equipment was available, along with books & games. Loved the quietness and that a National Historic Park was close by - great for early morning walks/run. (park outside gate if going in before opening.)
