Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe HH Whitney House was a perfect home base for my first Mardi Gras. Glen made delightful breakfasts, provided excellent recommendations for things to do and see, and overall made me feel totally welcome.

United KingdomPool could have been a little cleaner, but we were not there to swim & it was at the end of the summer, so not an issue.
Very old fashioned & gives you a feeling of what NOLA would have been like back in the day!

United StatesGlen was a great host! He was very welcoming and helpful when we were asking about different things to do or places to go for cuisine. The house is 158 YEARS OLD! Blew our minds. Breakfast was yummy and he always had fresh towels ready for us but didn't interfere during our stay in his home, and was always available if we needed him for whatever reason. We walked to the French Quarter everyday, only about 10-15min walk to get there. We also wanted somewhere that would accommodate a vehicle and he let us park it in his driveway! There was on street parking available as well sense we wanted to explore beyond only New Orleans during our stay. Next time we come back we want to bring our whole family and stay with Glen! 5 STARS!

SpainSincerely.... Nothing to say !
I would like to start by thanking Glen for his treatment, kindness and professionalism. Apart from the fact that he is a Michelin star chef prepared the breakfast. A dedication and a lot of love in those delicious breakfasts, with a perfect tie. Then, the house does not lack detail and the perfect location. Glen! Save us the bottle of Champaign we will be back!!! Thank you so much for everything ! Maryna & Jose

United Statesit was not very clean. bedroom floor was dirty and we saw a cockroach in the bathroom. also, there are no locks on the bedroom doors when you leave, although there is a safe to put valuables and it locks from the inside. it wasnt a terrible trip but I wouldn't stay there again.
breakfast was good, but pretty limited vegan options. the house had a historic feel to it.

United StatesThe old house is in an awful location. Its a very dangerous walk to the main attractions. As soon as my brother and I walked in it smelled like cat pee. And the house seemed to be in a disorganized mess. Essentially there's no security for your belongings. And no proper lock on the room doors. The only assurance we had was the owner "doing this for 26 years". There is a safe in the room but that wasn't enough for me. The walk through and history given to us about the house was incredibly quick and vague. The owner was in a way rude to me and talked over me, called me by a different name. But for some reason he was more respectful of my brother, even though I'm the one that paid. I paid for us to stay in the larger room with the balcony, and that's the only way to get your own private bathroom in the house. There's no good view due to the location and the entire house you can feel is lop-sided while staying in that room. The small snack bar is available to all rooms and it was rarely replenished with a sufficient amount of coffee. The owner made a small breakfast for us but there's no organized system to it. The other bed and breakfasts I've stayed in have a slip you fill out and have a set time for each room. And the house needs to be updated severely. The owner I believe should take care to higher-out and have a team to help run the place sufficiently.
Not much.
