Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ChinaWe loved our stay here! The room was spotless and Tomami cleaned it every day while we were out. Hand made breakfast was also included which we got to eat in a small breakfast nook with ocean views. This B and B was paradise.

United StatesI liked the sounds of the ocean waves but for one child, it was a little loud during the day so wore 1 ear plug and was good. But at night, child slept comfortably and sounds didn’t bother.
Great B&B: Very nice accommodations and host/staff, lovely bedrooms, clean/newer bathroom, daily cleaning/new towels, awesome location, nutritious and filling breakfast made to order, modern/shared full kitchen, and included or free use of items we didn’t have to buy or rent (e.g. cold bottled water, packets of tea/coffee/hot cocoa, individually wrapped snacks (e.g. nut bars, popcorn), beach towels, umbrella, boogie board, beach chair, water shoes, snorkel & goggles, swimming fins, electric BBQ grill)!!! Overlooks Hilo Bay/Pacific Ocean… every morning saw a few people enjoying the ocean (e.g. 🏄surfing, kayaking) !!!

United StatesNothing could have been better with the stay. We came to Hilo to run in the International Marathon/1/2 marathon, 10K and 5K which took place Sunday March 17th. The location was perfect and we had the best Thai food in town that I think we have ever had!!
Breakfast was excellent. The staff there were amazing; so helpful and friendly. Brian and his wife went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed and we couldn't be happier with the stay. We will definitely stay again!!

United StatesNothing.
The view of the oceanfront rooms cannot be beat - the house is about 18 inches from the cliff. We loved watching the ships come into Hilo Bay every morning. The room was spacious and beautiful and they service the room with clean sheets and towels every day. Free ample parking.

United StatesExceptional care in every way. Brian guided us to cool spots to check out and made us feel so welcome with a quick tour of our room and the amenities. On both days when we arrived in our car in heavy rain, he seems to appear magically out of nowhere with umbrellas to help us stay dry as we came out of the car. The breakfast and location by the sea are of course a big treat.

United StatesOver the years, the oceanfront land has slowly eroded, and the house now stands a couple feet from the small cliff edge, slightly undercut from the wave action. Scary, No. Give you pause to admire the strength of the waves? Yes. We could feel the waves as they hit the rocks below the room. The home probably has several good years in it before it will need to be moved back from the edge. Other than the dining room and accessible kitchen, the shared areas of the house are on the large yard/ driveway side, away from the bay, mainly on a large open raised covered porch, leaving the interior of the home to private rooms. These common areas are comfortable, but don't have the view of the bay. We were not there during the day, so it mattered little to us.
Breakfast made to order was delicious. While waiting for the cooked breakfast, we were presented with an artfully arranged fruit plate and had fresh baked breads to nibble on while looking out over the Hilo Bay and watching the early morning surfers and an arriving cruise ship, wondering where the personal yacht anchored off shore would go next. The century old home was nicely updated a few years ago. Our oceanfront room was wonderful! Large, with high ceilings, beautiful old wood paneling and furniture, and a sitting area with a built-in daybed and table with windows on two sides. So nice for read or watching and listening to the ocean waves breaking. We slept great with the breeze, waves, and comfortable bed.

Beautifull view of the ocean! Perfectly nice room and bed as well. Beach towels, equipment and day snacks were a nice bonus too! Warm contact and communication with owners as well.

United StatesCharming b&b in an old, renovated wooden house. Our room, with a nice seating area, sat right over the ocean. Breakfast was wonderful and the owners very warm and welcoming. Plenty of complimentary tea, coffee, snacks, and alcoholic beverages. An easy walk into town for dining and shopping.

United StatesThe only negative about the property was that nothing was within easy walking distance. I would not recommend staying here without a car.
Great location on the ocean. The staff was exceptional. They prepared a breakfast to order. Don't miss out on the coconut macadamia n pancakes! Ask them for suggestions for things to do. They give great advice. They even asked us if we had any laundry and did it free of charge. The room was spacious and comfortable.

NetherlandsAbsolutely nothing.
This B&B is the best place to stay if you want to take a few days to explore the nature around Hilo! A great place to quietly unwind after a long hike, as there are not too many other guests. The rooms have a beautiful continental look, a very cosy and comfortable feeling. The bed is also really comfortable. No aircon, but there is a very effective ceiling fan so it wasn't necessary. The hosts are also some of the kindest people on this planet. Cheryl makes all the guests a delicious breakfast in the morning (your choice of pancakes, omlet, eggs bacon and toast, or french toast) and they are incredibly sweet and helpful! I don't think this is the best place to stay if you have small kids, because there is not much to do for them. Not a problem for us, just something we thought.

United StatesThe location was terrific. We could walk to town if we wanted or we could sit and watch the water and the surfers. Brian and Tomomi were perfect hosts—very helpful with advice on unique places to visit and delicious breakfasts with a beautifully designed fruit plates. They thought of everything to help us make the most of our stay. We had access to umbrellas, flashlights, boogie boards, snorkel equipment, etc. And after a fun day of adventure, we sat by the window drinking tea and listening to the waves. This was a great place to stay. I highly recommend.

United StatesNo pool, but we drove to Kona for the day and used Resort Pass for a day poolside at the Hilton. Jeremy made the best gin and tonic.
A beautiful home set on the edge of Hilo. We kept our windows open 100% of our stay due to the cool breeze and the sound of waves crashing below. A ceiling fan and floor fan helped on warmer days. I do not sleep well anywhere other than my bed, BUT the king size bed was incredibly comfortable. I slept better than ever. This probably had something to do with the quiet of the house (And it was quiet!) despite other guests and our room location right off the breakfast area. It was delightful to wake each day to the smell of bacon and coffee. We were served our choice of French toast or macadamia nut pancakes. Coconut syrup was my choice of topping. Fresh fruit, eggs any style, bacon, omelets, and avocado toast were other options and I had them all. All very tasty. The hosts also provided snacks, tea, hot water, water, and other beverage mixings left behind to make some tasty cocktails. Tour books and fiction were available. The owners and employees were incredibly informative and kind. Great service! Excellent restaurants are nearby, all suggested by Cheryl. Our favorite was Cafe Pesto. Get. The. Risotto!

United StatesThe only negative was lack of AC at the property, especially the bedroom. It was very hot, but the fan helped.
The breakfast was great, the view and sounds of the waves from the breakfast nook right above the water was the best part! There were snacks available, use of a shared refrigerator, and use of snorkeling/boarding equipment. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

United StatesWe liked everything about it.
The room we chose was on the corner of the house right at the edge of the ocean. We listened to the surf and the gentle chirping of frogs as we slept it was spacious, clean, high ceiling, comfortable and clean private bathroom. Host provided snacks for later times of day, as well as a very generous breakfast. They also give good advice for seeing the sights. We are glad we chose this location to stay for our visit to the Big Island.
