Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesNot a big issue but AC units are a bit loud.
A much more spacious accommodation than I anticipated, new appliances ( full-sized fridge, microwave, full kitchen), lots of storage space in the bedroom, AC units both in the living room and the bedroom, a nice bathroom. Loved that this is not a generic feeling hotel but more of a retro style place, has character: cute exterior and interior design features, units furnished with nice wooden furniture. The manager was quick to resolve issues: e.g. I accidentally booked 1 night less than I needed, and he extended the stay for me no problem, requesting a very reasonable payment for that extra night. Location is great too, right in the middle of Waikiki, yet not a very noisy area close to the canal. I would absolutely stay here again! Can't beat the price for what they offer.

AustraliaAlthough not the hotels fault it's right on the noisy thoroughfare. Air conditioning very old and noisy. Staff only available by phone, nowhere to be seen.
Roomy, well equipped. Good location, not far to walk to Waikiki beach. Reasonably priced for Honolulu.

CanadaLocated directly on Wai Alai Boulevard: lovely view of the canal across the street; however, very very noisy, busy traffic thoroughfare. Could make for very restless nights for late sleepers.
Was comfortable, clean, located very close to all Waikiki/Honolulu amenities. PATRICK was friendly, accommodating, and very helpful host/manager. Was a delight.

NetherlandsIt is all quite dated, but it all works. The phone in the room is a sight itself! Almost from the Flintstone ages!
The location is perfect. The main Waikiki shopping streets are a block away, the beach only two blocks. Opposite the hotel is a good running track along the river and around the golf course. The staff is helpful and friendly.

United Statesfew more kitchen tools- we like to cook meals to save on going out all the time
location is very good as you just have a short walk to international markets and restaurant and beach is a walkable distance - hence no reason to pay beach front excessive prices. Its the only reasonable accommodation I found in Waikiki that came with sufficient space and a kitchen

AustraliaPlace is dated, but that didnt bother us. An electric kettle would have been convenient. The TV in the main living room took about 5 mins to "warm up" before it would work properly.
Having read previous reviews about the noisy traffic, I was nervous about staying here. But, seriously, it is fine. Yes, it's not the Hilton and yes, you can hear a bit of traffic, but it's not dreadful. Upon saying this, please be aware that this is a 2 to 3 star property. It is a bit dated, but things work, and having a small kitchen where you can cook helps to cut food costs. We were on the fourth floor and facing the side street (Nohonani), so noise wasn't an issue; yes, you can hear traffic, but it certainly wasn't terrible. We had an air conditioner in the main living room and one in the bedroom, albeit old and noisy, they worked fine and acted as white noise. The wifi worked fine and there was a TV in the bedroom which was good, but the one in the living room had to 'warm up' before it stopped flickering and then it was ok. In regards to location, it is great. Walk down Nahua St, through the International Market Place, down the alley with the line of surf boards, and you're on the beach. For groceries, the ABC Store on the corner of Kanekapolei has some fresh produce, breakfast cereals, etc, and is cheaper than the Waikiki Market. It is a short walk to both stores. Alternatively, for a slightly longer walk, Longs Drugs is like a CVS and is near Lewers St. For nice cocktails and a quiet retreat, try White Sands on Nohonani, just a few doors down from the apartment. Also, if you are catching the bus from/to the airport, it stops at the end of Nohonani and is a short walk to the apartment building. (Bus takes about an hour and costs $3.50) To summarise, if you dont mind a budget apartment without the frills, this place is fine. It was serviced twice in the week we stayed, and if you needed anything, you could call the Manager and he would meet you to assist. The building is a short walk from the beach, but faces the mountains and canal. If you are worried about traffic noise, ask for a room towards the back.

CanadaUnderground basement parking is limited and bit tricky to park at some of the spots as they are very tight. If you don't need parking then this hotel is an awesome choice for family trip with two bed room suite with full kitchen.
We liked the two bed room suite concept, it was an awesome experience with family. All of us in the family really enjoyed our stay at holiday surf hotel. Great bank for the buck for a family trip to Aloha state. Location was great, close to all the amenities, food restaurants, wakiki beach and Ala Wai Canal.

JapanSome parts of room are not as clean as luxury hotels though I’m not a sensitive man to care that kind of thing. They had shampoo only in the bathroom, no conditioner. But I didn't ask them about conditioner.
I’m much satisfied with my stay there. First of all, it’s not costing much. The host manager and staffs were kind enough to try to do whatever I asked them. The room was spacious enough for a budget accommodation. Some reviewers say that it’s noisy there. Yeah. It’s near a major street. But as my room was on the 4th floor, I was never annoyed by noise. I give 9 rating because I want to save 10 for a luxury hotel. But as a budget accommodation, this one is really great.
