Elevator had an odor of marijuana. Hallway smelled damp. Comforter on the bed was dirty. No towels in the bathroom.

The elevator was dirty and outdated - at least change the chrome or try to polish it. It was all scratched up. The hallways were dirty. There was trash falling out of the trash bins and on the floor. We told front desk and they said they didn't have cleaning crew at 7pm...what? The vents had huge dust balls and clogged up. We asked for the vent to be cleaned because my spouse has asthma, they offered us wipes or move us to another room. The ac didn't work. It was a 90 degree day with a warm room. The windows were extremely dirty meaning there was film on them and you could see that whoever had stayed had drawn on the windows. We had to ask for another room. They moved us next door to a smaller room at the Hilton which was very nice, nonetheless. However, I was charged twice for both hotels rather than the one night. Now, I'm left with dealing with the extra charge to be removed.

What’s not to like? I’ve stayed in hotels and Airbnb’s around the world and I give this one my highest recommendation.

Let me tell you all about how good my experience was staying at this hotel ☺️ Not only was I a visitor from Chicago, but upon checking in, Tony (I believe was the hotel’s manager) accommodated me by allowing a late check in (2am to be exact) after my flight was delayed from leaving Chicago. Not only did she place a hold on the room so that it wouldn’t be sold, but she was so graceful and nice to talk to following checkout that morning. I would highly recommend visiting this hotel and working with Tony. The staff is very friendly, the rooms were very clean and spacious, and overall customer service was a 10/10. I will definitely be recommending this hotel to all my Chicago friends and family. Thanks again Tony!! This property was beyond my expectations! Great location, a view of the lake right outside your window, clean, updated, all facilities in tact and working, and THE STAFF (every staff member was more than helpful and went above and beyond to accommodate us).

Although this has nothing to do with the staff at the Homewood suites who was simply excellent, It would not take much for the Hilton facility immediately next door to the Homewood Suites to have a sign pointing to the Homewood suites. Upon arrival after 1 am and upon seeing the sign with the address that read Hilton and Homewood Suites, we unloaded my elderly parents only to be told that the Homewood Suites was next door. Had the existing sign with a self parking arrow pointing toward the director on the Homewood suites simply had "Homewood Suites" under that arrow, this inconvenience would not have occurred. Clearly we are not the first customers to mention this. Please note, upon turning onto the hotel street (Stout I think), the sign reads Hilton and Homewood Suites making one assume the properties were connected. Thank you.

Staff was very professional and courteous. They went out of their way to remember the guests names and needs. Breakfast was well stocked and tasty. The parking in and out privileges were a bonus and the rate was reasonable for a major City.

No ice in the ice machine. The people in the room next to me were yelling, arguing, and fussing. Children were screaming too. That was not pleasant on my last day there as I was reflecting on my time there.

The atmosphere, the check-in experience, the cleanliness of the room, as well as the view were AMAZING! The amenities really added a special feel as well. I would definitely come here again for personal and business where necessary.

Unfortunately there was only 1 working elevator when I visited and when I tried to use the working elevator after 4pm I would have to wait anywhere from 10-15 minutes and usually would just take the stairs.

I really enjoyed the suite style rooms and the option to park in the parking lot for $13 a night. Street parking was not always available so this was extremely convenient.

Our first room on Thursday night was 508. It was very warm, there were no glasses or dishes in the kitchen. No wastebasket. Toilet was dirty. Door lock battery went dead on the door. We were out Thursday night and didn't get back until late, so nothing could be done until Friday. The maintenance man was super great and quick to respond. He deserves kudos as he got us moved to a better room 704. The manager was not as concerned about our stay and less concerned about making things "right." We should have not have been charged for Thursday night and I still expect that to occur.

The second room was good and the responsiveness of the maintenance man was great.

This is just a personal preference but the lighting in the bathroom was very dim. I prefer brighter lights. Also, there needs to be more hooks/hanging bars to put towels/wash clothes on in the bathroom. One hook isn’t enough. That being said, it was still a great hotel.

I love it’s proximity to local colleges and highways. It’s conveniently located near City Ave so I was able to easily find restaurants and things to do in the area.
