Friendly staff and the front desk was excellent and super helpful with directions about the area, especially to my wife because she had to find me after running the Big Sur Marathon, which was also coviniently located less than block from the bus boarding area to the race. The free breakfast was also excellent. I will come to this hotel from now on. Extra: Centrally located within walking distance to all shops and restaurants in Carmel

Staff could be more welcoming and friendly. When I arrived to check in, they did not even acknowledge my presence until they wrapped up their conversation. Not enough parking.

Walls are thin, noisy… One thing that needs to be addressed is the tub— needs new non-stick, and the stability bar is not in the right place. It should be on the wall. Both of us almost slipped in the showers of two separate rooms.

The rooms were nicely remodeled, and the bathroom was amply supplied. Also, plenty of lighting/outlets. Staff were friendly.

The walls are super thin, you can hear everything and the people above us were incredibly loud!

Overall would recommend but a few minor negatives: Rooms were single-glazed with gap under the door, so loud when people walked by to get to other rooms (though in a quiet area so the outside/street noise was very low). Main noise issue was the building had very loud plumbing - so very loud when neighbours used their bathrooms or when the tank was filling (not sure which). Not sure it had air-con which would be an issue mid-summer. Very dodgy Wifi. Breakfast was a bit basic, and in a cramped room; we didn't bother with it as there is an amazing bakery in the village. Parking was limited; we managed to find a space fairly easily every day, but can imagine the road parking would be tricky in peak season.

Perfect location in Carmel-by-the-sea: right next to all the shops, restaurants and tasting rooms. Room was comfortable and well appointed; average size, good TV, comfy bed. We were lucky and had patio chairs right outside our room (60).

The property was just perfect for a weekend or more away. Clean and tidy. It ticked all the boxes. It is well located and very comfortable. A really sweet little property and excellent value for money.

Walls are very thin and we could hear people talking next door. Unfortunately, they had an early start and showered at 5:30 in the morning which was very noisy.

Staff were friendly and it’s an excellent location. Room is spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was adequate.

We had a family with children above us who seemed to be running constantly from the moment we got there straight through to the morning. The noise was very loud and unfortunately my husband has misophonia and this made it nearly impossible for him to rest after our long drive. The parking was tight although we eventually managed to find a spot. The room was quite small for four adults and luggage. The room only had a fan for cooling down. The fridge was very small and oddly shaped inside for leftover boxes and drinks.

Very close to downtown for walking the shops and seeing the local businesses and restaurants. Hot and cold breakfast options were good to get you going for the day. The outside of the hotel was charming and the half doors for the rooms were an unusual experience.

The only thing is that breakfast is available at 8 which was after we normally left for the day. Not a big deal for us as we found a nice little bakery downtown, but could be an inconvenience if someone prefers to eat at the hotel.

Floors in between is thin. Every step of the people above your room if you are staying downstairs is really loud. While if you are a guest staying above a room, be considerate of others as well.

While writing this review, i'm currently staying at this hotel and found the room to be quite nice. The location is within walking distance to the center, which was very convenient for exploring the area. However, I have one major complaint that significantly impacted my experience. The noise from the people walking above our room was extremely disruptive. I found it difficult to ignore the continuous footsteps, which echoed loudly downstairs. This made it challenging, especially with a 1-year-old baby who kept waking up due to the noise. If you are sensitive to noise or easily disturbed by footsteps, this hotel may not be the best choice for you. Despite the pleasant room and convenient location, the disruptive noise greatly affected the overall experience. I hope the hotel management can address this issue to ensure a more peaceful stay for future guests. Ps. I actually called the reception at 22:36 to call the room above us to let them know they are disrupting us with their footsteps, which they did really call them. And now 22:48 is quiet. I'm gonna edit this if they make a noise again. 😑😏
