How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The breakfast was too crowded at times and the poor lady trying to keep things refilled did her best but she needs help. The big tour buses are too many people for 1 person! But she was super nice even under stressful conditions!

Cleaner room…. Me room had a bad smell! I was happy to be able to open the window

There was a shooting down the hall from us on the 4th floor at about 6:30am. It doesn't seem there is any front desk/front lobby security. We arrived at 9:30pm on Thursday night and the doors were not locked. It seems from the news reports that the shooter walked in at 4am and had to wait to check in until the morning worker arrived. Isn't there any staff there for the full night? How scary that the front door is open without any workers at the front desk.
There was a breakfast but due to the shooting we could not sit down and eat. There were too many people in the room. The parking was sparse and the back parking lot was a bit "scary".

Breakfast could improve- selection of fruit poor- green bananas and dry oranges. How about some yogurt to mix with the oatmeal packets?
We were quite relieved and pleased with our room. Bed very comfortable, shower very good. Should have a hook for towels near the sink. After reading a number of negative reviews about cleanliness of room, we were worried- but room was cleaned appropriately.

Sink was very slow draining and filled up easily. The handle of the toilet fell off so the only way to flush the toilet was to take the lid off the tank. While the room seemed clean, the hotel guide book was disgusting.

ice machines out of order. breakfast was good but if you didn’t get there early then everything was gone - no replenishment. coffee pots in rooms need cleaning. the AC / heat unit in the room you could not control plus it was broken and dirty.

That I couldn't stay long enough to explore the area more but I plan to come up here again soon.
Beds were very comfortable. I loved the shower I love how quiet the hotel was as well. Great lighting fixtures everything was great.

the property was dated and tired. the room didn’t seem fresh. bedspread and pillows didn’t look fresh. click was blinking. one lamp didn’t work. faucet covered in some slimey liquid. cleaner still in toilet bowl. wall paper peeking. burns in carpet. breakfast was not inviting. Staff seemed unhappy. they need to smile. Sidewalk a hazard.

it had just snowed and the temperatures were frigid they did not clear any ice or snow from the area it was totally icy just to get into their front door the only part they cleaned was about 10 feet from the front doors if you were 12 feet from the front door where you drive up and get out it was sheer ice and it was that way the whole time we were there not just when we arrived and it hasn’t snowed there for probably eight hours so they had plenty of time to clear out all the ice and put down some salt it was dangerous walking there and then the guy at the reception area didn’t know any restaurants around for us to go to dinner when they were plenty as we drove around. It was a Monday and a lot of restaurants were closed in that area on Mondays but there were still plenty to eat that that were open we found them on our own with no help from the guy at the desk. Those people who work there should know their area and be able tomake recommendations

Curtain rod in shower needed to be rescrewed into wall, it was hanging a little and I couldn't close the curtain and we got water on the floor.
Very clean and sheets were very soft.
