Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United StatesOn my last day, I called the front desk to inquire what, if any, options I had since my flight was heading out of town quite late (7pm). The person who answered was rude, condescending and frankly mean. I was given a 1pm check out, with a tone of annoyance and disrespect. Housekeeping and check-in, bar service and restaurant service had been excellent up to that point. It's unfortunate how one person can ruin an entire stay.

United StatesThe bathroom is weird with the frosted glass wall in the shower with lack of privacy, and it’s unhygienic to have to come out of the bathroom to wash your hands after using the toilet - gross. For that reason I wouldn’t book again :(

United StatesExcellent location. Walk easily to the National Mall, monuments, white house, museums. Clean. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice bar area. Awesome rooftop vue bar.... drinks or dinner at dusk... DC looks amazing at night. 3 restaurants. My room had a seperate toilet and sink from a shower and sink. Both had mirrors. Functional idea to allow for 2 people. Beds super comfy. Standard room had no view except for 3 other exterior walls. Large lobby area with seating, desks, and TV so you can enjoy space vs sitting in your room. Good space to wait. 2 parking garages nearby. Valet. A wonderful bakery one block away for breakfast, take away, coffee. Washington wine and spirits a couple blocks away for good wine. Overall, a great place. Highly recommend.

United StatesThe staff was extremely accommodating, and we were immediately and repeatedly left with the impression that the hotel is very well managed. Before we arrived, the hotel sent a welcome text to ask if we needed anything upon arrival. We needed extra hangers, which they provided upon our request in that text message. The room was very clean, and we had everything we needed. The bed was very comfortable, even for my bad back. The room was arranged very thoughtfully, with a great use of space -- the shower itself functioned as a dividing wall, and there was a separate toilet room which turned out to be really great. The shower itself was excellent, and was extraordinarily spacious, with a decent-sized shelf for toiletries in just the right spot. The location of the hotel itself could not be better -- it's within walking distance of so much. Parking was super easy in the ramp across the street, but the hotel also offered valet service. Some of our family members stayed at the Willard next door (at higher cost), but we were very, very impressed with Hotel Washington! I would definitely choose this hotel again.

SwitzerlandBe careful, the standard rooms are facing a wall. No view. And our room was very noisy during the night because of the proximity of the aeration outside. Luckily we could change the room for our second night and then it was amazing!
The location was amazing just next to the White House. At the roof top bar you can have a cocktail with a view. The decoration of the hotel (lobby and rooms) was nice.

The hotel is very conveniently located. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We had delicious meals at both of the hotel's restaurants.

United StatesDo not do not do not stay on the 10th floor by any means! The restaurant on the 11th floor turns into a nightclub and the music is so loud it makes the walls shake. I don’t know how anybody stays on 10th floor! I had to move my room.
The location is amazing. It’s super clean, and it has everything you need right there.
