Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaThe beds were a bit too short for me, I'd say it's not the place for people 5'11 or taller. Also wouldn't be great for people who are a bit bigger in general because the beds are narrow, I think that's something that could be mentioned when booking.
Very respectful and quiet atmosphere, staff was very welcoming, the included breakfast was a great addition. The earplugs did the job and I slept very well. It was a well maintained little spot, very central and just a 5min walk away from Penn station.

It was my first visit to New York & I liked the hostel’s calm atmosphere, it is a nice retreat from the hustle & bustle of NY & Ravi was very helpful. The breakfast is nice & healthy, the bed was comfy & everyone respected the quiet rule, I slept well. It is also a great price for the location.

United StatesI wish it were a little easier to meet other travlers - basically all the space is taken up by the rooms.
Great location, small rooms, but you get what you pay for. Definitely the best cheap way to get a private room near Midtown Manhattan for a week or so.

United StatesIf you snore or if you think you snore, this is not the place for you. They have rooms like place but it is open ceiling so the sound travels. If you are disrupting other guests while they are sleeping they will come and bang at your door and ask you to use nose strips or if not they can ask you to leave. I have heard them do this to one of the guests in the building, good thing the guy use his nose strips.
The staff were really nice and they were very helpful. They provided me with things I needed for my stay.

UkraineRoom was tiny. A lot of other people which didn't speak English stayed there so it was a bit loud in the morning. Also it was hot. The shared bathroom was busy. Stay was not too comfortable. And price was high. My friend stayed in another hotel from AirBnb with much better apartment and for lower prices.
Great location in the center of Manhattan. You could meet new people in the hostel. Decent bagels for breakfast

CroatiaWi-fi wasn't the best. It worked decently, but would often crash. Rooms don't have proper roofs so you can often hear other people at night and have to be very quiet in the rooms.
Location is the best part since it is in the centre of Manhattan. It is quite close to the Empire State Building and Madison Square Garden. Showers and toilets are shared, and they were decently clean, so no problem there. There is also a breakfast where you have cereal, bread and stuff, and some fruit, which is nice. Rooms are tiny, but since it is a hostel and you technically have your own private room, you can't complain much. Value for money is awesome if you plan on travelling the city the whole day and come here just to sleep. Especially since it is much cheaper than anything else in the city.

United StatesThat’s a lot of stairs for an old lady.
Extremely good value for a bed room in NYC. It’s much like a hostel, so you need to be ready for cooperative living space and other people making noises during the night. I expected this, so was not surprised. But everyone was great.

United StatesFYI - the rooms are like cubicles - private on all four sides, but open at the top. The nighttime noise wasn't too bad, but the staff got pretty weird about snoring. One staff member pounded on my door around 5am (I was already awake) to loudly reprimand me for snoring, which was a little annoying and embarrassing. The cubicle design also prevented airflow, which made the air hot and stuffy, even on a relatively cool night. It wasn't a very comfortable sleep. I think both of these issues could be solved if they provided fans, both to move air and to add some ambient white noise.
The location is top-tier, right next to Penn Station and Madison Square Garden, and that alone would make it a great stay. It's also super clean, cozy, and has just about everything you need for a comfortable stay. Despite being a hostel, there's a big emphasis on visual privacy, which was great. It reminded me of the small hourly sleeping rooms that are common in Japan. They also have open access to drinking water, tea/coffee, and snacks. That was a godsend for a frugal tourist since I could come and go throughout the day and grab a snack while changing clothes, dropping off souvenirs, etc. The place itself feels very inclusive and safe, which I really appreciated. Just be aware that you can't bring meat products, open alcohol, etc. into the building. Check-out is 11:00am, which was awesome. They also offer free bag storage. 100% worth it if you're looking to stay somewhere clean and central without breaking the bank.
