Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe entryway could use some improvement for people who are not very sure-footed. Otherwise, someone may fall if they aren't careful.

CanadaOur room was at the far end of the house, and the 5 GHz guest wi-fi signal was weak in our room... I had to sit in the kitchen to use the wi-fi, but my wife's cell phone connected most of the time. Could be improved with a wi-fi extender, or allow guest to use the 2.4 GHz connection. Parking could be difficult if all the rooms are occupied. It wasn't too busy when we were there, so not a big deal for us.
Cynthia is an excellent host, very friendly! Our room was spacious and beds comfortable, and the air conditioner kept the room nice and cool! We had our own private bathroom which we could lock if there were other guests in the house. I liked that I could make some coffee in the morning!

United StatesOur room was an upstairs room, which was warm for sleeping in, but we got a fan going, and slept well. We shared a bathroom with another guest for a time; but it worked out.
The place was like home away from home; the decor was appealing and relaxing. The bed was comfortable. Cynthia was a great host.

AustraliaCynthia was a friendly host, she made us feel very comfortable and provided good suggestions on where to eat. Also upgraded us to a larger room free of charge. The property was clean and rooms are spacious. It was good to have access to a fridge and cooking facilities if needed. Location was good, especially if you have a car.

Cynthia was attentive to our needs, warm and friendly, and definitely a good host. There was no breakfast but she did make sure we had coffee. The facility is older but definitely comfortable and pleasant accommodations with lovely floors.

United StatesThe Wi-Fi was not fast enough for good TV reception. Not really a problem because we don't watch much TV. My bed was a little hard, but my son's bed was perfect for him which is what mattered since he was the one that had the important meeting.
We felt like we were visiting family. “Auntie” Cynthia was great to visit with during breakfast. She made us feel like it was our home also. The house looks old from the outside, but inside it is very inviting, clean and comfortable. There is a flat screen TV in the breakfast room which has a continuous presentation of various tours and sites around the Hilo area. Very helpful and informative if you've never been to this side of the Big Island before. Renovations are ongoing. Cynthia is adding more rooms, including a family room.

United StatesThe property has parking, but be sure to rent a midsize to small car. Parking would be easier for you. Nobody can control nature, but the frog and his “her-pee” “her-pee” right outside our window is not my friend.
Friendly owner offered coffee for the morning after our stay of one night. The crosswind in our bedroom with a ceiling fan was enough to keep us cool at night while we slept. It was nice having a fridge and tv with Netflix in our room.

United StatesCynthia is a gifted host: outgoing, thoughtful, courteous and fun! She brings what I've come to recognize as the spirit of Aloha-- seeing you as you are and welcoming you as a friend! The layout of the inn with its hallways and sliding screen doors make it feel very cozy and private, even though there are multiple guest rooms on one floor. We loved our clean, comfy room (nice memory foam beds), the fun decor and welcoming shared dining room. Great location for visiting Hilo. We would definitely stay again!

JapanThis is a wonderful location close to the center of Hilo. If you visit UH Hilo, this should be the best place to access. The large shopping center including CVS and grocery store is close to the place as well. You can choose the best food from many options. The bathroom and kitchen were clean and neat. I could feel how Japanese Americans used to live. I felt nostalgic as if I was visiting my grandmother's house. The owner lady, Cynthia is a kind and friendly person. She prepared coffee for us in the morning and gave us a lot of information about Hilo. Lastly, the kittens are very cute and cat lovers will love them.
