Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaHad to eat outside and always had to go through bedroom, not best layout. Outside door is split in two (awkward) and covered every night with a towel as there is about a one inch gap.
Clean, excellent location, all necessities minus place to eat (outdoor only). No issues parking, easy to get around.

United StatesI was aware there was no AC. So it was manageable and pleasant at night. The sheets could be better like a bamboo material to help keep cool. There is a lack of privacy since you have to keep windows open to circulate air. Not the best place to honey moon.
I liked the proximity to the beach and to the town. I liked the combination of a homey feel and beach town charm. Kailua is gorgeous. The guest house was spacious. Not a place I’d recommend for teleworking. So close to the pillbox hike. Easy to check in. Food options - Buzz’s Steakhouse, Haleiwa Joes in Kanohe, Grace in Growlers, Kono’s, Paniolos, Cinnamon’s, farmers markets

United StatesThe only thing I wish for was AC, but we stayed in spring and the air was good with the fans at night. I just don't know how summer would be here. But they provided an additional fan so it was still good.
It's in a walking distance of town, and the beach accesses. The owner was super nice, the place was beautiful and very local feeling.

United StatesThe first morning I was awakened by "running noise", and I was immediately disoriented as I thought I was still in My LA apartment with upstairs neighbors!! 😕. I wasn't aware that it was "part" of a larger house and that there was a family of 4 adjacent. They were quite heavy footed on the wooden floors. The mom also used the washer and dryer two days straight which was quite noisy right outside of the bathroom/bedroom window.
The location was great! Access to the beach was great! The "natural" quiet and birds in the morning was wonderful!

CanadaNo air conditioning was a problem for us. Thankfully there was a ceiling fan in the bedroom.
An excellent location. Just a block away from Kalama Beach Park/Kailua beach. Easy and quick to get to town where there are lots of grocery stores and anything you might need. Honolulu just 25 minute drive. A comfortable bed. Washroom is huge and well equipped. Laundry facilities. Great host. Close to Lanikai Beach.

United StatesThe only thing we did not consider when we booked the unit was that there is no air conditioning. It is hot in August in Hawaii. The ceiling fan and portable fan was not sufficient to cool down the bedroom for us to sleep. We did not feel comfortable in having any windows opened at night. We did end up leaving 2-nights early and stay at at hotel in Waikiki.
The check-in was easy. The description of the house and pictures were accurate. However, we did not know that it was attached or part of another house. Location was excellent!

United StatesThe connecting house is noisy when people are walking around. Luckily we were on similar early schedules but you definitely hear footsteps and banging around. This is nit-picky but would be awesome if the ceiling fan had ranges to be on low or high. It's very strong which was great when humid but then got cold in the night. I'd suggest new beach chairs that could be carried to the beach since it's just 1.5 blocks away.
Clean, beautiful, perfect for a solo traveler or couple

United StatesThe mattress and bedding left something to be desired. I prefer duvets and down pillows with firmer mattresses. Everything on the bed felt synthetic which makes it harder to sleep, especially in hot climates.
The location cannot be beat. Kailua and Lanikai are gorgeous and feel more like they are on a less populous island.
