Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesNothing that I didn't like, but a couple of things for guests to consider: (1) Some guests might not like the Alii Drive location because it's a very busy thoroughfare in Kona, and traffic can be heavy; traffic noise was a minor factor for me, as the unit was actually pretty quiet; (2) This property is a little older and, in some ways, shows its age; still, the unit is well-maintained, super-clean, and surprisingly quiet.
Location on Alii Drive is very desirable because of the convenience and because the beach is mere footsteps away. My third-floor unit at Kona Bali Kai was quite cozy and comfy; though it only had a view of the road, the lanai was nice. The efficiency apartment was über-clean, with a kitchen so well equipped that it even had small appliances like a mixer and rice cooker (REALLY nice for guests who like to self-cater). The main property on the ocean side has beach access (though no swimming, snorkeling, or surfing) and a nice grassy area for picnicking and grilling. There is also a small but very pleasant swimming pool and jacuzzi at the main property on the beach side of Alii Drive, where parking is easy and convenient. Considering the excellent location, as well as the size, and comfort of the unit, I found the room rate to be an excellent value. I would certainly book another stay at this location, especially if the cost were comparable.

New ZealandBuilding 3 has no lift and we were on level 3, so difficult to access our room. Building is quite shabby. Air con so noisy we could not use it. Building 3 is across the road from the main complex with the pool, so it is misleading to put up photos of the pool when it is not easy to access. It is on the opposite side to the sea. Cleaning fee at $145 very high and it was not clear when initially booking what the breakdow n of costs was. Vacasa also a booking agent as well as booking.com so confusing ad to who was managing the booking.
Convenient location room clean and comfortable, everything there to use in the kitchen

United StatesThe Kitchen was old but good size with good refrigerator, but the utensils were very limited and old. There was no dishwasher so you had to wash your own dishes which made me wonder how well the previous visitors cleaned up. One dining chair had a nail sticking out at the bottom which would tear the carpet if you tried to move it. Climbing 4 flights of stairs was good exercise for this old guy but be aware of that if you rent this place. No elevator.
I liked the location overall as the ocean was just across the street and the town was nice. The bed was comfortable and the balcony ok.

United StatesI didn't like that the pull-out couch did not have a blanket and I did not like The Neighbor Next Door to us yelling at us not to touch the cats scared my autistic son and I did not like the fact that the role screen on the deck was falling off every time we touched it and there were dirty pillow cases on the pillows for the extra bed
I like that it had air conditioning and the room was clean

IsraelWhat I didn’t like was the registration procession under Vacasa management. We booked the room a year in advance and received confirmations until the day before arrival. Trying to check in we were told our room was „unfortunately” sold already and we could split our stay between two different properties. I was reluctant because that meant moving two days before the Ironman competition, but was told I could either accept or cancel altogether (not really an option as there wax literally nothing available at that time). Upon checking in we were also given the wrong code and had to wait till we were given a valid entry code. The Vacasa staff was extremely good at not finding a solution to the check out ~ check in time gap of a few hours on moving day. Despite their reassurances they’d get in contact it was in the end the Kona Bali Kai ground crew who simply solved the problem by ordering the cleaners to clean our room last, to give us more time till the second property was ready. So kudos to the property team.
The room #234 that we got (not booked originally) was small but nicely furnished and decorated and exceptionally well equipped and clean. Facing the hill it was also quiet enough albeit being right on Allii Drive. I‘d book it again in a heartbeat.

CanadaAll furniture should be updated but especially the bed and pullout. The existing carpet is old and worn. My wife says it's stinky. The sliding door in the washroom is very noisy and difficult to move. It's sliders are worn out. One of the plugins by the old recliner is not working. There is a water leak in the toilet. Couldn't get a key to work in the upper lock. Nearby roosters wok us up as early as 4 AM each and every morning. Shoot the roosters (haha). We didn't mind the geckos but not the cockroaches. Not a "big issue" but the inside door panel on the fridge sticks to the body when opened. The nearby food store was handy.
Would rent in Kona if returning. Kona Bali is not so convenient to town and a long walk if not taking the bus which is hardly ever on schedule.

United StatesCheck-in was a pain, 3 credit cards got rejected but when I called it got accepted no problem. Then I had to call to 'verify my identity', which failed. So i had to call another number, where I got accepted right away. On the plus side, they were very friendly and allowed me to check in early.

United StatesThe beds were extremely uncomfortable. There was no bedding for the couch bed except a quilt. We didn’t know where the main office was to drop our parking information. Turns out it was across the street and weird to get to - you have to go in the building. Not well labeled.
It was an enclosed space to sleep. Kitchen usable.

ItalyI am sorry to say this, but the guy at the reception was lazy and unwelcoming. Check in was at 4pm and we arrived at 2pm, asking if by any chance we could check in earlier if the apartment was ready. He said "no, we do no do that, you have to come back at 4pm". Instead we went to the apartment, and found that the keys were there and everything was ready for us to get in... so why not checking that for us? He made us miss one precious afternoon at the beach.
Really nice apartment, well equipped, lanai and good location with (small) ocean view, however it is not right in front of the beach, it is on the other side of the road (still pretty good!).

United StatesThe bathroom is pretty bad. The showerhead is terrible, provides a very poor stream of water for showering. It’s very old. The toilet is also very old, and I had to have it fixed by maintenance during my stay. The sliding door to the balcony did not work, I could not get out on the balcony. I called for maintenance to fix it but he was unable to fix it. There was no way to get fresh air into the unit because none of the windows opened or I couldn’t figure out how to open them if in fact they do open. Worrisome for fire safety.
It was very clean. The bed was very comfortable and had good linens and quilt. The kitchen had a full-size refrigerator and stove/oven so I could easily cook meals. Parking worked out well, I could always get a parking space right out front. It’s on the top floor of the complex and you can see the water and a beautiful big tree from the sliding door/window. The grounds are nicely maintained.
