Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesFirst complaint is we booked a room described as a garden view room - the description should have said parking lot view room!! Very put off by the extra charges we were hit with. First a resort charge - really didn’t use any resort items other than pool and sat in view of fire pits (couldn’t get a seat at them). Then, they asked if we had a car - so another fee ($42) for parking (they said well you can park on street but have to move your car at midnight). Then get to the room. Water bottles provided ($5 a bottle). We’ve just stayed at 9 resorts up and down coast at same or higher rating level and almost all provided water at no charge. Coffee machine but no cream or sugar. Room service described not happening currently due to staffing issue. Toilet paper holder broken. Bathroom door slides open when you’re in bathroom. Bonfires are wonderful but impossible to get a chair at them. Pool was great and lounge chairs nice but it was very hot and couldn’t get a location in four hours under an umbrella. (Could have more umbrellas up). Daughter ordered food at pool - it took an hour to get it. Even directions to room when arrived. - walked around the whole building with luggage trying to find entrance to room. Simple direction from front desk staff would have avoided this. It’s the little things.
Gorgeous location. Of the hotels on Shelter Island, loved the location at the end. Beds were super, super plush and comfortable. Loved the campfires at night.

United StatesWe had an adjoining room that was not very sound proof. There was a Bachelorette party going on two nights in a row which got a little loud at times. Luckily it wasn't anything too rowdy. If we knew they were going to be there, we would've chose a different room. The room above us also had some heavy walkers, not cool. Every night, there was some sort of machinery that would go off with loud noise but I couldn't figure out what it was. The electrical closet was next to our room and I believe also another facilities room.
Our Reservation through Booking.com did not sync up with the Resort's reservation system so the staff at the front desk had to cancel our previous Booking.com reservation and manually enter a new reservation. "Sal" did a great job with that, he upgraded us to a King Bed Room which had a tub to soak in and he comp'd our parking for the duration of the stay. We also reserved a cabana at the Main Pool a little over a month before our stay. Brittney made sure that all our needs were taken care of and even came by the pool to check on us to make sure everything was up to par. We also rented Wave Runners via Action Sports and the staff there ensured that we were taken care of. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant, Vessel Restaurant. The food was good. The service was a little slow but they were also swamped from the looks of it. Our server didn't charge us for our appetizer because the kitchen was running so slow with our order.

United StatesThe mattresses and bedding are very uncomfortable. No room service. Housekeeping was rude. We asked him for two clean towels for my 5 and 8 year old on our way to the pool because they were freezing and he kept saying we have to get it by the pool. He eventually gave it but he acted like he was passing out gold. Very unpleasant. Also, restaurant told us we can do takeout on Easter Day. We got to pool and put our kids in pool and my husband went to get food and the hostess said we can’t do to go. They refused to serve us despite literally an hour before that telling us we can do it. It’s the only place on site where we could eat in the morning and that’s why I called in advance so if they don’t serve we could leave the property before getting out kids into the pool. So then we had to wait over an hour with hungry kids for the pool bar kitchen to open. Unbelievably rude and bad customer service. Will never go here and will never recommend it to anyone. It’s a pity because the property is nice.

United Statesthis is not a resort. it’s just a hotel. rooms are ok. bathrooms are from another era. It was so disappointing to think we were booking into some sort of fun resort to find we were just stuck away in a room in a remote building looking at boats. I would have booked in a regular hotel in La Jolla or somewhere if I had know this was not really a “resort”. too expensive for what it is.
room was mostly nice

United StatesI would have liked a better set up for coffee in room. The Vessel restaurant opens later and I like coffee earlier then 10am.
Love the staff, location and overall vibe of this property. The court yard was a hit with our 11year old son who wanted to play ping pong the whole time. The poolside bar was great as well. We rent a small boat and that's a nice continent location off dock. Bikes riden around island was fun. The Vessel resturant is diffently 4+ stars ! We had such a relaxing stay that we pick this over Coronado for future trips.
