Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The Hostel was clean, comfy, well supplied & location not far from downtown. Staff on grounds was friendly, helpful & professional. Nice & quiet environment with plenty of beautiful trees & greenery from every room. It was raining when I arrived. The rain made it for a pleasant & calming experience. Being the only one at the site... provided a great overnight for a much needed rest before continuing to my destination. Thank you.

United StatesThis was more of an airbnb, rather than a hostel. Only 3 individual rooms. So, if you are looking for the social aspect, you won't find it here. No staff on-site for questions or problems. I don't inherently expect free food or products from a hostel. That being said, if it is going to be advertised, it should be provided and kept up with. This was a selling point for me when booking and when I arrived, I found that the free things offered were actually just remnants of things other travelers had left. The free "food" consisted of bags of rice, cooking bread crumbs, an almost empty bag of flour, and a box of horribly crushed and SUPER expired granola and graham crackers. Nothing you could actually have a meal or even a snack out of and all very old, almost empty, and/or expired. The free shampoo was non-existent and the bathroom products for guest use in general were community use things one would NOT want to share such as a single razor and used deoderant. What little toilet paper there was ran out and there was no more of it. The couple who do the cleaning were finishing up as I arrived before vacating the premises altogether. No worries about them still working on the room (I had been notified in advance about this). However, the gentleman wouldn't even look at, much less speak to, me and the lady, while nice enough, was very openly religious, so if that bothers you, be informed. There were a TON of games (pro), but no one to actually play them with. Disposing of trash was made a bit more complicated than necessary, with VERY specific bins for VERY specific things.
The bed was SUPER comfortable with plenty of very warm blankets. It was in a beautiful, quiet area outside of but still very close to town. There were horses and a cat! (If you are allergic, you may wanna keep this in mind as the cat comes in and out). Free washer and dryer services. Everything was very well labeled and e-mail communication was very detailed and thorough.

United StatesIt's a shared bathroom so be advised. I was really close to it so I never was in a situation where I couldn't access the bathroom. The only thing I would have thought would be nice was a way to heat it because it was pretty cool in there. Everything was super immaculate and there was plenty of soap and shampoo for anyone.
You provide all your own food so breakfast is not included but there is tea and a few meal items there if you forget to bring something. It's a no frills place but it's very accommodating and the host is very nice.

United StatesSmall hiccup checking in that made my friend and I a little nervous. We had the confirmation email but the people there didn't seem to know we were supposed to be there. Fixed in the end but nervewrecking for he fact we were walking into a house. Better communication basically is what I would've liked between everyone.
About what I expected. It was the cheapest option in a popular tourist spot. It was clean, everyone was nice, and we were undisturbed when we wanted to be. Definitely would need a car to get anywhere, but was very close to the redwood park and crescent city for easy access without being in the middle of busy tourist season.

United StatesI had a sweet treat that I brought. In the late night, I brought it in my room to eat, and the rest of my stay and that night especially, I was swarmed by ants! It was terrible. That, however, was the biggest issue by fat. Everything else was tolerable.
Nice friendly staff, amenities of home, laundry on site. Very comfortable bed.

United StatesThe walls were not sound proof and I could hear the man near door snoring. Plus the room was right off the kitchen so early morning people sounds were amplified,
I loved going to the end of the road and just hanging out in the wildlife area. The room with the screen provided personal privacy from the rest of the. House. For a house with six people sharing one bathroom it was very very clean,

United StatesThe only thing we didn't like was not having a lock on our door. Nothing was taken or anything like that but we would have felt more comfortable being able to lock our room when we went out for dinner that evening.
Had a good stay and met very nice people with great conversation. Nothing fancy but didn't expect that, was clean and that was our expectation.

United StatesWe had to get an early start, so fixed breakfast when everyone else was still sleeping. No door on the dorm room, so we were trying to be quiet, but still I think woke up people sleeping in the dorm room. I took walk to the lake nearby in the evening; but there was trash around the shore, which detracted from the joy of the walk. Would be nice to have some landscaping outside around the house.
Rural setting, so quiet. Able to use kitchen for preparing breakfast. Thankfully, the shower was fixed, so we were able to take showers. Thank you for having clean towels available. Room with queen bed was clean, adequate for us. I accidentally left my jacket in my room; I got a call (voicemail) from the owner.staff about it and he was willing to mail it to me. I appreciate his concern and willingness to send it to me (I was too far south to return to pick it up, especially with road work and landslide clearing just south of Crescent City). Robert, a current resident, was quite helpful when we got there, by orienting us to the place.

No privacy, stated it was a room, it was in the community room, sectioned off by a divider. The host was sleeping on a mattress 5 ft away. Nothing good about this.
