Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

JapanThere is no refrigerator in the room or anywhere else. I have never stayed during the summer, but there is no air conditioner in my room, so it might be uncomfortable when summer comes.
The location is perfect, close to the subway, restaurants, and supermarkets. My room faced the backyard, so it was very quiet. All staff members are very friendly and always smiling. I have stayed here several times, and in NYC, at this price, it's very reasonable. Highly recommended.

AustraliaYou can hear pipes with water running through at night but it’s no biggie.
Great Guest House in the heart of NYC. It is on the older side, and could use an upgrade in some places such as new carpet, but nothing major. The daily bread at (except Sunday!) is always fresh and plentiful. The hot water is always consistent. The staff were lovely.

AustraliaThere was also a low but good sized easy chair in the room that tended to get in the way of the wardrobe. The only time I used it was to either take off or put on my boots.
The room was located on the top floor with a decent window allowing plenty of natural light into the room. There was a comfy desk and chair and a reasonable amount of storage space. The bathroom was a good size with a very good shower. I had a single bed that was very comfortable and roomy enough for my 6ft 100kg body. Loved the pillows! The elevators work very well and the laundry has to be the best value I’ve had in any country in my travels. The breakfast is tasty with a reasonable spread of items to choose from. The guest lounge located on level 2 is a very comfy reading spot. And the business centre/library is nice. I also have to mention the staff at the front desk were always helpful and friendly, George was a standout.

ItalyAt check-in they charge USD 100.00 deposit and I don't see the point. They refund it but it's still pointless to take a deposit, they could just check the room with you when you leave and make you pay if there's any damage. Please note, it's a Catholic Guest House, a bit strange for an Atheist like me.
Very friendly staff especially a guy who was at the reception earlier this morning 6th of May 2024. Central location, nearby 23st subway and Penn Train Station. Clean room, good supply of toiletries. Good hotel for a short stay, i'd use it again.

EstoniaWell, it was old(super old furniture -the lamp in the restroom just crashed on the floor during our stay, bed sheets with holes), a bit dirty(dirty carpet, dusty furniture and windows), noisy (but you get the earplugs). Our room was opposite to the cleaning lady room and to the one of the shared bathrooms and we EVERY morning when the cleaning was started we were woken up by the noises. A
The connection to everything on Manhattan and larger NYC is great. A lot places to eat and buy food around the hotel. We even had a nice view on the Edge. You get breakfast ( not very healthy , but OK it is still a breakfast). Everyone was very kind and happy to help and answer questions. Despite everything good quality-money value for us.

United KingdomThe accommodations are basic and a little dated but exceptionally clean and well maintained. The location is fantastic, subway is a few minutes walk away which gives easy access to upper and lower manhattan. Walking distance to the high line and Chelsea market. They do a free breakfast Monday to Saturday from 7am, bagel, muffins, toast and cereal etc. unexpected but very appreciated. The staff are so friendly and welcoming from the minute you walk in the door. I felt very safe being there on my own. They have a buzzer on the outside door so it is always locked and then the second door is locked from 11pm so you get buzzed in. The reception is manned 24 hours. I’m a confident traveller, but there are times you can still feel vulnerable. I didn’t feel worried at any point staying here. I’m so glad I found this place as it was worth every penny and more. If I go to NYC again I would 100% have The Leo House at the top of my list for hotels.

SpainThe rooms are small with either full bathroom or half bathroom Mine was half, which means toilet and sink but the shower was shared and out of the room My room was dated but from the hotel web it is apparent that there are parts of the hotel refurbished
The Location is excellent for NY, Chelsea, very well communicated, walking distance from Penn Station The price is very good for NY, unbeatable in fact, but the faciliities are limited as you may expect for the price and location There are renovated rooms on which I can't comment ) Comfortable beds The breakfast (Monday to Saturday, not on Sundays) is excellent Service attentive, 24 hours reception Good wifi in the rooms It presents itself as a "Catholic Guesthouse" but accepts anyone; they never ask about religious beliefs of the guests.

FranceThe hotel is rather old, and some of the equipment may need a little upgrade (mostly the mixer taps in the bathtubs, and the decoration but, to be fair, we were not in New York to enjoy our hotel room's decoration). We didn't appreciate that the house keeping staff didn't lock the door after cleaning the room, no issues to report though.
We booked a room with two single beds and a private bathroom for one week. The hotel is very well located in Chelsea (20 minutes walk from the Empire State Building and other touristic attractions) , and only a few steps away from the E and C subway station. Frontdesk staff is nice and helpful, some reviews may say that some staff members are rude, they were not. And granting that they could have been a little cold : can you blame them, some of them work night shifts, which is difficult. The breakfast is included, which is rare in NYC, it was very good and again, the staff was very nice and welcoming.

Hi, this was my 3rd stay at The Leo House. I like this hotel for its uniqueness, great location, and very nice breakfast. The hotel has the touch of old time, it is kind of nostalgic. I love the location and the staff is very friendly. You can enjoy a very nice breakfast while listening a classical music.

United KingdomI was in that room (710) for one night and I'm glad I was moved to a different room for the 4 nights after because several times in the middle of the night, I thought someone or an animal was banging on my window and I got scared. I found out this loud noise was coming from the lid of the pipe on the side of the radiator in the bathroom. I put my shoe on top of the lid and the noise stopped. I've got it on video if needed.
The hotel location is perfect, walking distance from different subways stations, and from Times Square, in a not too busy, street. The bed was very comfortable, right amount of firm for sensitive backs. The room was clean with a nice big window and lots of light. . The team was nice and welcoming.

New ZealandI have no issues,
The building is older but was very comfortable, homely and historic. The room with facilities was older but comfortable and had all facilities required. Breakfast included was a surprise and the food provided substantial and the room surroundings very homely Location was good for subway and train connections and very central in Manhattan. I would certainly stay again. Staff were helpful.
