How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The room was facing into the street so got lots of noise from that. The window couldn’t open more than a few inches so had to rely on AC for cooling, and the bathroom had no extraction vent so it got quite hot and humid in the room. Breakfast wasn’t overly exciting, some muffins/croissants, cereal and coffee. A toaster with some toppings and more fruit selection would be good, just for some variety. I know the price of hotels in NY is relatively high anyway, and this place seemed like a pretty good deal when looking at other hotels, but for $300 a night I guess I expect a bit more.
The rooftop terrace was great, and it was in a good location. Staff were very friendly and helpful. A 5 minute walk to the nearest subway.

Original assigned room quite small and at the back of hotel. Window view a dark, tall wall. Requested room change granted.
I liked the location. Front desk staff nice and accomodating. Room size quite adequate. Requested to be moved to a room at front of building and staff obliged.

The room was strangely shaped with one side of the room “v” shaped leading to awkward angles and limited space. The room had a very strong smell of wet dirty carpet, which ultimately came from the bathroom and not the carpet. It was pretty intense and was not pleasant at all. Also there were several areas in the room, around phone and connecting wires by the bedside very dusty. Overall the feeling was of a room not very clean.
The hotel is perfectly located, staff is extremely nice and helpful. Breakfast was limited in selection but of good quality.

A/C did not work properly and shower faucet leaked, but staff tried to attend to these issues and were somewhat resolved.
Great central location. Staff friendly and accommodating. Continental breakfast included. Nice roof top area.

We arrived at the check in time and were forced to sit in the tiny lobby and wait for thirty more minutes and wait for a clean room.
It was decent from outside and we were able to walk to places to eat.

Lack of microwave and fridge. Would have been handy. Little dining table was awkward. However I would stay here again as the location, cleanliness, safety and service was fantastic.
Excellent location. I spent the first part of my trip on my own as my partner was working in a different state. I found it safe at night and easy to get to from public transport. The Friends experience is literally 3 minutes away. The room was fine, no microwave or fridge as space in nyc is limited. Can get coffee and tea any time for free (although as it’s the USA you should tip). For a couple space was ok, slightly more room than what we had in places like Tokyo. Just enough room for two luggages.

There's no refrigerator or microwave in the room but if you need a refrigerator staff will put it in the refrigerator for you you just have to remember to get it
The staff was amazing and was able to accommodate our last minute request without too much of a problem area but was okay There were a couple of food options

Would be nice to have towels brought up everyday not just at request. same with water. Also a better selection of tea

The hotel and its accommodations are clean, accompanied by a really friendly staff. It is situated conveniently close to a subway station, and ideal for exploring Manhattan on foot. Continental breakfast is provided, and for quick snacks, there's a great bodega and corner store nearby. Bagels & Schmear was our favorite, which is a couple of blocks away. An excellent value for a Manhattan boutique hotel, I highly recommend it and look forward to returning!

The breakfast could use some protein items...maybe even something like yogurt, peanut butter packs for the apples, etc.
