Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesMy only complaints were no real sitting area in our room, nice comfortable chairs to sit relax and read a book would be a plus. If we wanted to relax in our room and read we had to lay in bed. The other slight miss was “ continental breakfast” it’s pancakes and coffee, everyday. We were there all week and a variety of pastries, fruit, yogurt, would have been a nice change. The coffee btw is excellent!
The building was very charming and of historical interest, rooms are very clean and location is great for walking around town and looking at houses in beautiful neighborhoods, you feel very safe walking alone in this area. The hotel is dog friendly but don’t bring big unmanageable dogs, this is a very old building full of historical redwood. Small well mannered dogs would be better suited. There is no dog run area leashed at all times, and you large dog might get destructive.

Beautiful historical house, walking distance from down town and glass beach. The owner made pancakes and coffee in the morning and shared lots of tidbits on the neighborhood

United StatesThe house can use a little TLC mostly in the form touch up paint. Our visit was at the end of winter and we were the only visitors on our floor so it was a bit cold the beginning of the first night. Our shower had no shelving so it made bathing a bit awkward.
Becky, the caretaker, is extremely nice and helpful. She responded to requests quickly and had everything prepared. The property is very cute and has a pleasant atmosphere. The rooms are cute!

United StatesNp real complaints other than that breakfast as it existed was not well organized. Propriator/ manager offered to make us fruit pancakes, but did not get there in time to do so before we had to leave to visit a family member who was in the hispital in Oregon.
Really lovely bed and breakfast type inn (though the breakfast plan is a little loose in an older home wher ground-floor rooms have been converted to bedrooms appropriate for people with disabilities. Intersting decor that combines themes of medical-cannabis community, old-time sea-faring, and support for veterans.

United StatesI would like more breakfast options, like fruit, yogurt, and bread. However, we got by with the oatmeal and the on-site manager kindly made us pancakes one morning, which we appreciated. Nothing else to add.
Great location- A cool old building. Easy walking distance to everything in Fort Bragg and a great base for adventures in the greater Mendocino area. Dog friendly. On-site parking. Was a nice place to have a low-key Christmas. The on-site manager (a local) is great company for early morning coffee and has lots of tips for things to do in the area. I would stay here again!

United StatesThe Captains Quarters is a 'cannabis friendly' establishment and as such might require a certain level of personal invention. In earlier incarnations the building was home to a school for raw food so the otherwise well stocked kitchen actually lacks a stove. Our visit coincided with a cold spell so a hatchet in the room might have been handy for cutting kindling though large logs were plentiful.
The Captains Quarters is really a gem of a lodging. Ft. Bragg is a charming town and the Quarters is a historic building in a quiet neighborhood. The flicker of the wood fire on the ancient redwood paneling as you fall asleep is worth the price alone. The gardens would be wonderful on a warm summer afternoon. As the only guests this week we had full run of the kitchen and otherwise were happy to make ourselves at home in the building.

United StatesThere are plenty of rooms in one house, all these are converted. All families were courteous and no noise was heard during the stay. The plumbing was fine though the pipes made more noise, bathroom shower stall is very cozy
Staff is extremely friendly and helpful, very thorough. Location is near to the beach, so it was easy to walk and be back in half hour. Beds were comfortable, soft, clean and rooms were small. Instructions provided were detailed enough to check-in when we came in later than the staff leaving time.

United StatesIt was warm on our last day. Third floor got a little warm.
This property is unique. It’s a interesting historic property. Our room was large . Beds were okay , slept well. Lots of pillows. Big fluffy towels. Safe neighborhood, close to everything. Becky was welcoming and helped us find our way around town. Our room was comfortable and clean. Lots of stairs so if that bothers you take the first floor room. Breakfast had the best fresh fruit ever, and the coffee was amazing.(That’s a big plus!) We will go back next time we visit Fort Bragg.

United StatesRoom was hot so we had to open the window and run the fan all night otherwise it was all good. I did not know that this was a "Bud & Breakfast-Cannabis Retreat when I booked the room but that did not bother us. It was a bed and breakfast. No TV in the room but that did not matter to us, but it might to others since room is advertised as including one.
I liked the location of Captains Quarters. It was walking distance to the older section of Fort Bragg that has restaurants such as North Coast Brewery Pub. It is also walking distance to the Skunk train and about a 20-25 minute walk to Glass Beach. Our room was on the top floor so it was also very quiet. Becky made pancakes and had Thanksgiving Coffee available for breakfast.

the house is beautiful, the vibe of the place and becky (the manager) was great, the owner was nice too. All very clean, the kitchen was great, very good location, sharing a little bit every breakfast with the other guests was nice cos everyone was really nice there.

United StatesIn the world of Air B&Bs, it was nice to stay in a real Bed & Breakfast again. Check in was easy, the room was clean with plenty of sleeping options for the three of us. Breakfast was homemade peach pancakes around the kitchen table. We really felt like house guests which was nice. We walked to a brewery, then a restaurant for dinner, and then to Glass Beach for a magnificent sunset, probably a mile total.

United StatesFriendly hosting, nice clean room with character and a very good mattress. Enjoyed the pancake breakfasts very much, nice outdoor eating area if you choose. Was a good base for enjoying the Mendocino coast. Lodging in coastal Mendocino is fairly expensive Fort Bragg included. I paid more for this stay than I'm accustomed to, but I really don't see any lower priced decent alternatives in Ft Bragg. Even if you're tempted to stay at the local Motel 6, its about the highest priced and funkiest Motel 6 you're likely to experience. So, I'm glad I found the Captain's Quarters.

United StatesWe got a garden view but the yard was nothing spectacular to look at. The garden beds had weeds and there where no flowers or anything pretty to look at.
The succulents in the driveway and around the house where beautiful! The inside of the property is beautiful and well decorated. Becky was really nice. The “goodie bag” we got was nice. And my nephew raves about the cherry pancakes. The coffee was also very good.

United StatesI wish I had chosen a larger room. It was the smallest in the house and felt a bit crowded for my 10 year old grandson and myself. All the other rooms were quite spacious.
Breakfast needed more variation as I'm not a fan of pancakes. Excellent coffee. Location was great-close to everything but quiet, lovely part of old Fort Bragg. Becky, the innkeeper was friendly and helpful. Good place to chat with people from other countries. The decor was quirky and whimsical.
