This is a remodel of the former “Word of Life” retreat property. The building we stayed in didn’t have any room with a view of the lake. That’s mostly from the common areas as far as I could tell. The rooms were newly remodeled but frankly lacking is style and appointment if they are seeking the clientele I believe they are shooting for. The room was nice and clean but it wouldn’t demand a 5 star pricetag.

It was nicely situated overlooking the lake and walking distance from town. It had a great Adirondack camp feel. The food was excellent and reasonably priced.

When we checked in, the young man at the desk (who told us he was just promoted to supervisor) was VERY negative. We came in a day early for the eclipse activities and were totally psyched.. in fact, had never been to Schroon Lake! He told us we couldn’t stay for the activities the next day because they were sold out, they’d make us move our car right after check-in, and they they may not even let us in the tavern for a drink that night because it may be full. We arrived at 8pm. Well.. not only was the tavern empty but the staff EVERYWHERE ELSE was FANTASTIC!!! There was even room in the eclipse activities the next day!!! Suggestion: Train your supervisors to be accommodating and check before telling everyone that “nothing is possible”.

The staff at the Tavern were wonderful! They were quick to take care of us, kind, and friendly. Our room was clean, comfortable, and had all the great amenities you would expect in a family room with bunk beds.

The room smelt of some kind of medicinal smell, not a cleaning product?! We were supposed to have spring water in room…had to text to get…one bottle!

No meal service available too many clients? Not enough staff? Ate out in the town pub.….only drinks and desserts were available at the lodge…and the service was slooooooow.

Bathrooms were very small and Very noisy in the hallway/adjacent rooms late in the evening.

That check in was at 4, and the fact our room was on an end near the outside door. So we heard it slam every time it opened and shut.

The lodge is beautiful. They go above and beyond to have a nice place to come relax and enjoy your time.

The sauna’s temperature was a little disappointing but if it’s kept much warmer it makes a perfect night routine before dinner.

Nothing negative just a few things to work on we are here often while here already booking future stays. I wish they would offer deals like places we stayed in lake George for their loyal customers like ourselves. Restaurant a bit pricey but that would be OK if the menu was bigger and some Italian food. Maybe it's me because I'm a chef myself but that not gonna keep us from returning. We feel safe while we stay this places really cares about their customers.

Idk why anyone could give this place a negative review. I swear people just like to complain. This is our go to ADK STAY. Much better then lake George and lake placid. They are very accommodating with our service dog. I truly love it here home away from home. So much to do here without ever leaving the resort. Especially in the warmer months.

We were there in off season (October), and stayed just one night on our way up to Canada. Had a nice dinner in the Brown Swan. We were in the main part of the hotel - the room was adequate and comfortable. It was a bit confusing with the elevator and floor numbers, but we managed ok. Next time we may consider staying in one of the Chalets.

The rooms were a big disappointment. The carpet wasn’t good, the room was clean which is good, but I was expecting the rooms to match the outdoor beauty. The building was ugly with no curb appeal and the dinning room needs a remodel.

The place is beautiful, really spectacular. And the food at the restaurant was amazing. The staff was great. I love the outdoor beauty, the reception (lobby) was super nice too.

That the cup filled with cigarette butts that remained on the balcony had been removed by housekeeping before we arrived. That no cups had been provided in room.

Room I had was set up weird. I’ve never seen bunk beds across from master bed in same room. Other than that wish it had more food options around.

It’s a nice quiet little spot next to the lake. Not to far from some entertainment spots. Appeared to be family oriented with the amenities that were available.

Meal choices for sure! No breakfast items are available, however, fresh coffee was available in the morning. Sitting at the bar with a cocktail without something to eat, even popcorn or bar snacks, would have encouraged us to stay and enjoy the bartenders and other guests. We shared our concerns with management and they were quite receptive. They are fairly new tho so may take some time.

The Lodge is absolutely lovely. Plenty of different accommodations for a couple to a family, to a girls weekend. They have chalets, cabins, and rooms in the main lodge. With the exception of meals, you don’t have to leave unless you want too. There was a small bar menu with limited options available so we did need to venture out for food. There is also the Brown Swan which is open for brunch and dinner ( with reservations). No muffins, juices or fruit for the main lodge guests yet but that may be changing. All in all our stay was very enjoyable. We will return soon!
