Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Guatemalawhen I arrived the front desk did not know what to do with my reservation, they blamed Vacasa and kept me waiting for 2 hours. Andrea was not helpful, but then her manager was attentive and solved the issue. units are private, but I thought Westing was managing my reservation as I booked the hotel with the name Westin. after almost half and a day traveling, this misunderstanding felt so wrong.

United StatesI was charged twice for the same resort fees, once by booking.com and once by the resort. Booking.com blames Vacasa, Vacasa blames Westin, Westin blames booking.com, round and round in an endless circle where no one takes responsibility. Not fun! On arrival, the room had not been cleaned, the drapes were falling down, the kitchen faucet was nearly falling off, the beds were very uncomfortable, the view was of a construction site ... not as described, would not trust booking.com or vacasa to resolve your situation if something similar happens (I've given them a couple weeks to reply before writing this review but haven't heard anything back). I can try to change the review if they're able to offer some resolution. I'm not a review person but this is quite frustrating! The Westin itself is quite nice and the amenities of the hotel are good, I would just advise caveat emptor dealing with booking.com and vacasa on these things.

United StatesSee above regarding Vacasa.
This was an owner's unit reserved through Vacasa. The unit (a studio) did not match the online description (one bedroom unit). The fridge had not been cleaned out. There was no coffee or tea provided. There were no hand towels, no kitchen tea towels. It was advertised as a mountain view and its only view was of the construction site just east of the Westin. Strongly recommend staying away from Vacasa -- who also kept sending (and continues to send) automatically generated email messages saying that our credit card had been denied -- which it never was.

United StatesWe've stayed at Vacasa-managed properties in the past, but this will be the last time. We booked this property thru Booking.com, and during the checkout process, the price was marked "the final price shown is the amount you'll pay to the property." But after payment, Vacasa disclosed additional fees: $45/night for valet parking, $35/night resort fee and a separate $50 "booking fee." There is no free parking with this property, despite Vacasa's claims otherwise. After two 30-minute calls and a series of emails, Vacasa finally refunded me for these undisclosed fees. While en route to the property, I received a text message that a technician would be coming to the room "early the next morning" to repair the fireplace. I responded several times (via voice-dictated text message) asking Vacasa to call me instead of texting (because I was driving), so that we could better understand the timing of the technician's arrival and thus plan around it. Vacasa never called me -- and the technician never came during our two-night stay. Vacasa demonstrated serious mismanagement and communication failures for this booking. Fortunately, the property itself is amazing, so our actual stay was absolutely enjoyable.
The room is clean, comfortable and thoughtfully laid out. And if you're skiing, you'll be spoiled by the ski valet and gondola mere steps from the hotel. Three hot tubs overlooking Eagle River were a treat after a day of skiing. If you decide to book and stay in this property, you'll absolutely love it. Just be sure you're going in with both eyes open in terms of the hidden fees.
