That we couldn’t have stayed longer.

We felt like we were at spa but so comfortable like our home. We were upgraded to a country cottage. The owners were super helpful and easy to talk too. They have fruit trees and it was a blast to have fresh tangerines and apple bananas. I loved the rescue cats and they were friendly. It was fun to call them in the morning to received some kitty love. The land was beautiful, and quiet. Our last night we even saw a pig and a piglet! Even though we were in the country once you’re in your room, you are at a spa. Best of both worlds. I hope we can stay there again in the near future and wish only the best to the owners. Mahalo for a much needed restful and peaceful stay.

The only thing I missed was heating in the room. After 5 days of pouring rain, room's air and also my stuff were damp and had no chance to dry out a little bit.

Great location, away from the big buzz, relaxing, in the middle of the nature. Perfectly equipped kitchen, laundry, nice common room. Apt very spacey, nice balcony, really relaxing. Hosts are friendly and helpful, thank you!

This cottage is now my top-rated lodge ever. I never expected an inn to be so incredibly beautiful，cozy and dry （compared to other mountain inns）What surprised me even more is that several extremely friendly cats would approach you for a rub. My heart just melted here.

I hardly know where to begin. This property had everything - a beautiful view, well appointed and comfortably large room, friendly cats, very close to a few waterfalls and the luscious rainforests of the north. Can’t go wrong staying here!

Love the quiet and charming of the surroundings of a fruit farm. Enjoy roming around the fruit trees after a day out sightseeing and tasted the sweet and juicy longans right after they were picked. Love our 3 days stay there!

Nothing we didn't like ... Cloudy day made me sad that we could not watch the sunrise from the room's private lanai. Stayed at the end of August and missed seeing lychee fruit in season in the orchard (it's earlier in the year, May/June). I only wish we could have stayed longer. Would certainly come back again.

We had a lovely and comfortable overnight stay at the Mahana House County Inn. We reserved one of the four adjoining guest rooms which offered a comfortable bed, spacious bathroom and shower, a well-stocked kitchenette with sink, fridge and plates/cutlery/etc., and strong WIFI. Access to great room with fully equipped kitchen was a bonus. Location was rural with limited cell service (Verizon, an issue across the island) but very conveniently located near Akaka Falls State Park and all the Hilo area sights. Enjoyed the resident cats, walking in the orchard, and seeing the wild pigs run across the property edge early in the morning.

Beautifully maintained and presented cottage. Drive through macadamia nut tree orchard to get to our cottage, great laundry facilities and a full kitchen/dining/view area in main building for our use if so desired but... we loved the deck on our cottage and the spacious studio.

In the last day, guest we shared the house was not favor to us... as young one made a lot of noise initially where we needed to mention to them.. Regretfully, we were not happy with the guest, not the facility and owner...

It was great to place to have time off. While the sound of frog is somewhat welcoming too much, it did not bother us after a while. Freedom of keeping our life there was one of great things that we felt. We would like to come again to refresh ourselves

This is a true gem. Up in the hills overlloking the ocean. Very quiet. The only sound you hear are birds at day and little frogs at night. Guest can use the very large kitchen area and living room. Including the terrace and grill. Everything is there. You even get complimentary eggs and fruit. AND there is a huge selection of games including one of our favorites.

Everything was perfect and immaculate. Even minutest of things are thought through and in amenities. Generous fridge full of food and beverage.

It's in a bit of a rural area and rather far from Hilo, which didn't bother us, but it's good to know. The price is higher than I would ordinarily pay but I decided to splurge and I didn't regret it.

The property is on a hill surrounded by lush greenery and features a panoramic view of the ocean. The cottage is spacious and attractive with lots of light and a good size patio/balcony. It's a perfect place to relax. The owner is very nice and accommodating.

only complaint was a grocery closer to the property... but that isnt their problem... it really was great.

The View! the moment we walked in the cottage and looked out over the back deck... we didnt wanna leave the room. every morning on the deck reading and watching the sun come up, or the storms move across the water... so comfy.

My husband and I stayed at Mahana House for 6 nights in January and it was way past our expectations. Facilities were exceptional. Help yourself to bath towels, beach towels, beach chairs, with very good washing facilities in the laundry. The common kitchen was unbelievable. So many different condiments, utensils, cooking facilities, etc. and it was so enjoyable to meet other guests in the kitchen. I cannot put into words, how extraordinary the Mahana House is.

We would try the cottages next time. Neighbors in the 4 unit building were a bit noisy at times. Not a major issue though.

Beautiful views. Quiet “farm” vibe. Great location to explore various parts of the Big Island. Well maintained. Options for doing your own cooking. Bathroom/shower design was great.
