Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesLoud - our room was near the PCH, and we heard our guest talking loudly in the room next to us.

United StatesThe room was not suitable to have a young child staying overnight, the door unlocked from the inside automatically when the lever was pulled with no additional security and so we had to barricade the door with a bench at night to make sure our toddler didn’t potentially wander out. The photos online were misleading, I was under the impression there was some sort of complimentary food onsite other than coffee and tea. The pool and its surrounding space was also much smaller than presented online. The property did not feel like a hotel, more like an upgraded motel. It didn’t feel very luxurious, and the interiors were almost so minimal it was underwhelming. The bathrooms were clean, but for the price I was paying I expected something nicer. It was very small. Also, the additional fees upon arrival of $25 PER DAY for parking and $25 separate dollars PER DAY for internet/etc were insulting after paying so much to begin with. It added $150 to our bill, which btw their parking lot had flooded so I’m not even sure why we had to pay for parking…
The property was clean, and the staff was kind. The bed was very comfortable, and the location was great.

United StatesLocation is not the greatest, there’s not much around and it’s not walking distance to any thing. I did not like that you have to pay an additional $25 to park your car at the hotels lot or choose to leave your car on the PCH. One of the attractions to this hotel is that it has the only pool in Malibu, which is not even ready for use. It would’ve been nice to be notified that the pool was not available after booking so that guests are aware even though their website says early 2022. I also believe that for the additional amount of money they charge you a night per person to use their amenities, there wasn’t really much to use. The lobby could have been used as a community room or it could serve as may be a winetasting service or hotel self serve mini bar at night considering that there’s nothing around the hotel.
The aesthetic of the hotel is beautiful. Staff was nice, I requested a special arrangement that was provided very nicely.

MexicoWe had one person knocking our room's door at 2AM asking for the Wifi's password desperately, it was really hard to get back to sleep after that incident. It is not good because parking within the premises is paid and the fact that someone (not a guest of the hotel) was wandering around at that time makes me wonder how safe my car was (the hotel refunded me the parking fee though). Price of items in the fridge are kind of high although everything is more expensive in Malibu so it's kind of expected
The rooms are great although they are a little bit on the small side, they have a patio that we really appreciated as we were traveling with a dog.

United Statesthe room was extremely minimalist and cold. The bathroom had no storage for my facial products. For the extreme price the entire hotel room was very underwhelming. I regret paying that much for that level of hotel room. It was a cleaned up motel as far as comfort goes.

United StatesThe rooms look out onto the 1 freeway which is a busy noisy four lane road. The hotel is basically a motel with nice bedding and stylish decor. Bookings said their room service (which there wasn’t) and a pool (which was closed). The breakfast of a baguette (without butter or jam or a plate) was really stale. And there was no sugar with the (admittedly delicious) coffee. Only stevia or honey. You can’t really walk to anywhere and it’s not near the beach at all. I was with kids and there was nothing to do at the hotel except sleep. Nothing to explore, no games, nothing. Just a room on a gravel road that leads to the parking lot. That said the staff were lovely and did the absolutely best. The bunk bed was cool.
