How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

This is a little different review. While we originally booked the Marlane Motel for a weekend in Wildwood (we liked the location & the price), we actually did not stay there. Unbeknownst to us the day we were arriving there was a power outage on "the island". We were about 45 mins away when we answered the call from Lisa @ Marlane(she had called multiple times before, we just didn't realize) to let us know that they had no power. She explained that they did not know when the power would be back on & recommended a couple other places we could try, because not every place was without power. Lisa was very kind & understanding, explained that we would not be charged for the night we did not stay, whether it was 1 or all 3. While we ultimately decided to stay all 3 nights at the place we found, because logistically with a 10 & 8 yr old, changing hotels was just easier on us. Lisa completely understood when I called to let her know & she also called a couple days later to confirm that we would be refunded fully. We feel that the way Lisa handled our situation & the way she communicated was great customer service. We feel that had we stayed, we would have been treated with the same great customer service. So if you are planning a trip to Wildwood, we would highly recommend you consider staying @ Marlane Motel

There was nothing about the hotel that I did notike
Location was excellent many restaurants in the area not tourist resturants.The room was exceptionally clean. The room location was exceptional also. The microwave and refrigerator were very clean and nice size

Bathroom was a bit small since we have a todler but was fine overall.
1 block from the boardwalk / beach. Close to many restaurants. Nice outdoor pool for kids. Friendly staff. Owner very nice & accommodating.

If you are looking for clean, great location, friendly customer service, then this is the place. When I was looking for a place to stay for our 2 night little getaway for me, my boyfriend and son, I knew finding the right place in Wildwood would take some time because there are many places that are old and neglected. The MarLane exceeded my expectations. The owners are so friendly and accommodating. They have a wonderful housekeeping staff who keep everything extremely clean. The rooms are newer and the perfect size. Comfortable & clean beds! The pool is so clean plus it’s heated! Parking was not an issue at all. The boardwalk is only a block away, playground, basketball, tennis all right across the street. If your familiar, the beach is enormous and walk to the ocean is quite far, so we took advantage of the car access to drive & park on the beach! Cost is $10 but saved my back from carrying all the stuff. Anyway, we will definitely stay at the MarLane Motel again! I love it here & highly recommend. It’s a hidden gem!

Owners were very friendly and helpful. Located one block from the boardwalk made walking everywhere easy. Would definitely stay here again.

Nothing negative to say about the property
The price was very reasonable, especially in comparison to other places in the area. The motel was very clean and quiet also. The owners are very nice people as well.

The location is exceptional. 1 block from boardwalk and next to convention center. Extremely clean for a small hotel (non-chain). Owners Lisa and Chris were very accommodating and concerned about how you were doing. Can’t wait to return. Next time with my family

The window AC units are noisy and the windows don’t open in the front of the units, would be awesome if screen doors were there to allow for more fresh air flow during the day but would consider that a nice to have not a must.
Very clean, updated, coffee/tea in morning and beach gear to borrow, pool and grounds immaculate. Proximity to convention hall and boardwalk perfect.

The first floor room, at least ours, was too humid. The towels stayed wet during our visit. The furnitures and the beds were wet... It gets worse when I knew they don't have a dryer.
The owners and the staffs are really nice. We enjoyed the pool and the great location.
