Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaI spent 45 minutes arguing with the clerk that I has a reservation. He just kept repeating he did not see it in the system. It was 10:30 PM, I had an 11-hour drive in my body and he did not offer to accommodate me in any way. I had to ask if he had any rooms available only to learn later that... HE DID. I had to ask him to call Bookings.com and I wrote him all my info on a paper because he wasn't asking me anything. Once he had the Bookings.com lady on the phone, he finally found my reservation in his system. And during all that, very intoxicated people were trying to speak to the clerk and were hanging out in the parking lot. Bad neighborhood. Did not feel safe at all.
The room was OK. Clean and functional, basic.

United StatesIt’s a rough area. But that’s not the motel’s fault. Just mind your business and don’t go for a walk unless you know what you’re doing.
Listen, we had a good, clean, safe night here in room 225. It doesn’t say on booking, Expedia, Travelocity, etc that you need $100 CASH deposit for a non smoking room. So make sure you have that. There’s an ATM but I bet fees are high. I brought $100 cash because I read reviews. I was worried about the place when I read about it. But the staff was friendly. When we checked in at 2, they said it would be a couple minutes to clean the room. We appreciated that. Our room was clean. Sheets were a little stained in spots but that’s MOTEL life.

United StatesThey ask for a $100 cash deposit against room damages with an ATM machine next to the check-in counter in case you don’t have cash. . I guess they have active related issues/incidents. They waived the refundable deposit for me that evening, which I greatly appreciate. I’ll have the refundable deposit next time for future bookings. The immediate vicinity is sketchy, not the motel’s fault. I felt safe walking to and from on Charles Street however, a short two blocks away. Use Uber late nights, especially if you are a woman. I’m a Baltimore native so I knew where to go and not go for my overnight stay. Street smarts is key before you stay here. Safety first. TV remote not working. Likely dead batteries. I didn’t bother to complain. I wasn’t there long enough for it to be a big deal.
Proximity to midtown Baltimore for the hugely popular annual Washington Monument lighting. Free parking. Generous towels.

United StatesVery unwelcoming checking. Employees were behind a small plexiglass window with an opening resembling a ship porthole. A $100 cash deposit was required, but not mentioned in the booking process. There is an ATM, otherwise they said it would take up to two weeks to get a credit card refund back. They did return my credit card deposit after some insistence on my part and a thorough room inventory check upon check out. Understandable considering the location. You get what you pay for.
Very basic, but very clean rooms. Minimal conveniences in room like soap (no shampoo), minimal towels, but others fine. Off street parking in front of rooms which is good for an inner city location.

DenmarkNeighborhood felt unsafe after dark. On the pictures of the motel there's a nice reception area. In reality you walkinto a tiny booth and the person working there is behind a thick layer of plexiglass with a tiny hole in it. They expect you to tell them the you pin code, since the credit card reader doest fit through the hole in the window. Only after some discussion I was allowed into their office to punch in my pincode myself. The local people were having a loud party in the parking lot right outside our very thin window. We didn't sleep at all. It seemed like an everyday thing, so we moved after the first night even though we had paid for two nights.
