Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United States1. The room stank! Take that usual hotel smell and multiply it by 10. 2. The wireless connection was poor. I was trying to stream a baseball game, and the screen repeatedly froze while the wireless connection tried to catch up. 3. No stopper in the bathroom sink - don’t stay here if you wear contact lenses. The furniture, floors and walls were all badly dinged up. The caulk in the bathroom area was cracked and pulling away.

CanadaIt's old, and it shows. My bathroom tap sprayed and leaked all over the surrounding counter, the coffee machine is definitely showing its age, and in the bathroom there looks to be some significant mould growth that has simply been scrubbed then caulked over. One of the wall-mounted lights by the desk area flickered precariously before I decided to leave it turned off, and the extension cord by the desk looked ... well a bit unnervingly frayed (safe, probably, but a bit unsettling). I'd still say it's good value for the money, but being right across from the marvelous (but much more expensive on weekdays) Dinah's Garden? it's a big difference, is all I'll say. On the other hand, weekday rates in Palo Alto are often outrageous, so I'd still stay here again in a heartbeat for the price I paid.
Great location, family owned and run (I think?), quiet, a comfortable bed, clean a refrigerator that worked and wasn't noisy, a microwave (which I didn't use, so this would be good for a short self-catering budget stay in Palo Alto). There's a small pool which I didn't use, but looks well-maintained and a nice arrangement, with a forested ravine bounding the hotel and giving the pool lounging area a surprisingly natural ambience from looking in.

PolandNoises, you can hear from your room noises from other rooms close to yours and people walking outside. It's a pity there was no kettle.
Kind staff, rather clean room, wi-fi. There were towels, disposable soaps and shampoo. Reasonable price. Generally I was satisfied.

United StatesStained & spattered walls, deteriorated baseboards with gaping holes, women's face make up smears in the bathroom by prior guest that was not cleaned, bedding consisted of 2 flat sheets with a blanket sandwiched in-between, mini fridge not plugged in so took hours to get cold enough to safely store medications/food, unsanitary coffee cups & ice bucket with no protective wrap, cheap instant coffee from 99cent store despite coffee maker present in which to brew real coffee, pubic hair/debris on bathroom counter top looked as if rag used to clean other parts of bathroom was also used to wipe counter. Crappy internet, No knob on refrigerator to adjust temp. Just very dirty & tired.
Location was close to Stanford medical community, price was much more affordable than other options, large flat screen TV, the outside of establishment looked clean & charming.

United StatesThe room was dirty even after maid cleaned - didn't sweep well, all switches and outlets caked with dirt, too few towels, bed was hard, shower was difficult to operate, several poorly patched areas in room including especially bathroom, obvious termite damage - open rotting wood, rust in sink, toilet handle had to be held to flush or flushed twice to empty, microwave rusted, coffee stained paper cups, refrigerator had ice bags in freezer compartment which were frozen in place which froze everything, last day no electricity which thawed things in refrigerator leaving refrigerator smelling moldy, two chairs in room unstable to sit upon, no table to eat on, air conditioning leaked water inside room and outside. No decor: One small picture on. No hooks in bathroom.
Easy to find. Close to Stanford hospital. No bed bugs. 60" flat tv.

IrelandVery dirty place, pubic hair on the walls, hair and food behind the bed, used bath towel, noisy fridge with cocaroches as a bonus. The dirty swimming pool is not even nice to look at; the receptionist will offer either a pesticide spray, a $40 discount on a two night stay, or a full refund at 10h30 pm.. Unfortunately, I only saw the multiple comments after experiencing the above (29/04 to the 01/05/24). All mentioned disatifaction are true and ongoing; no investment has been made to fix the matter. A place down the same road (The Palo Alto Inn), for instance, offers the complete opposite as a service for the same amount of money. So no. It's not a good stay, but the place has a major potential when sufficient renovation will take place.. Staying at four stars right now for $40 more, a clean room and bathroom, a balcony, gym and heated swimming pool, breakfast in the morning lounge bar, and inside shop all for $189, the Oak Notel charges $128. The room is definitely not worth that amount of money.
The location was great, the parking space was too, the size of the room was not bad either, the easiness to change room if there is a problem with the occupyed one is also a comoding.
