Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

This room was a perfect self contained unit with plenty of space. Everything seemed brand new and squeaky clean. I easily could have stayed here a month. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was nice. We were only there one night because it was otherwise booed. We used the fridge but the kitchenette seemed to have the basics. I am not sure the A/C would be necessary for everyone but we admit to using it and appreciating it since we are accustomed to it at home. There were plenty of outlets for charging our devices. The owners were available and friendly. My only recommendation is to make sure that you have the map and check in instructions saved on your phone as the cell service along the way there is not the best and you may lose access to the information. I had no cell service upon arrival and sent a booking message to ask for the instructions, and she replied immediately! I would highly recommend this stay to see this part of the coast and to visit the little town. It has the most delicious Big Hawaii chocolate on the island (award winning) and tastings are free at the shop in town. The bathing suit shop makes one of a kind items that we could not resist. The entire coast is is beautiful and the view of the valley is breathtaking. I hope that someday we can return to hike the valley since it is no longer open for hikes …at least not while we were there.

United StatesAll good.
Bill is a skilled woodworker and he has done an exceptional job outfitting the property. The welcome was friendly and the property had all sorts of nice extras like snorkeling gear. Self catering kitchen was to a high standard. The village location is quiet with an old world rural Hawaii vibe -- just what we love!. Wished we could have stayed another week.

JapanA solar LED light outside to mark the path to the door might help. Nights are dark!
Hawaii doesn't have the greatest housing stock but this room and home is well constructed with insulation and good windows and climate appropriate concrete floors. I found it a perfect base to explore the north side of the island from and slept well in the spacious and comfortable bed. The kitchen is new and well equipped and cooked a few dinners there.

United StatesThe Ohana was really clean and had a nice little kitchenette for fixing our breakfast (which we brought with us). We especially liked the larger refrigerator for all our ice. The shower was really nice with pretty instant hot water.

United StatesIt’s not a negative but expect road work anyway rout you take. Some sites may be closed temporarily. But please respect the locals and be patient if you have to wait in line 20-30 minutes before your queue get passed by the one lane road section. And of course don’t speed, the unmarked police will get you.
We stayed only 2 nights and wish we could stay longer. We are glad to have chosen our stay here compared to the busy Kona area. The length was adequate enough to check out the Kohala Coast Beaches (Hapuna beach is a must see) and historical sites. Go early! It’s about an hour drive. Make sure to stop at the end of HW 270 lookout for the gorgeous view of Pololu Valley and drive back on HW250 back to town. The host is really nice, I met him when I was enjoying my coffee in the garden and ensured to let him know if we needed anything. Everything stocked at the unit is very well thought out. There’re beach gears. We brought the snorkel gears but didn’t use but thank god for the beach chairs and umbrella (it really saved us from being scorched from the 90 degree sun). Despite layers of sun screen, we still got burnt and the aloe Vera in the fridge absolutely saved our skin. Take the hosts recommendations on sites and food to eat. Get food from Tex drive in on the way out and make sure to come back early for Korean food rom Harmoni’s food in historical Honokaa. Grab a dinner and head out to Waikiki lookout to enjoy your dinner there! The view is absolutely stunning. Susie who runs the restaurant by herself only opens Wed-Sat 12-6pm and she said if you are late coming back after 6, call her to let her know you are coming. She made our bi bin bap fresh in front of us. It’s used to be a food truck but she moved to a shack a week ago. Big portions and reasonably priced. Don’t miss the Malasada from Tex drive in. The have a 2 for 1 loco moco on Thur but we didn’t get. Overall we wish we could stay longer. Thank you so much for having us!
