How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The "fitness suite" is just one cross trainer and one treadmill.
Central location for visiting San Francisco. Large, comfortable room. Friendly staff. Ideal for a city break.

Cannot find fault with the hotel at all.
Room was well laid out and roomy. Bed and pillows are super comfy and the bedside iPhone dock was a great touch. Bathroom was good with a powerful shower and plenty of hot water. Coffee making facilities provided were good. Location was great to explore Chinatown and union square with good access to the cable car and muni bus. Some good eating and drinking places nearby. Front of house staff were all friendly and happy to help with any questions we had about the area or the Hotel.

Room and bed were very comfy, though as there were two of us we would have liked slightly more room to include two chairs. The room was kept beautifully clean and tidy. We looked at but didn’t use the roof terrace as the weather was too cool and windy - but when sunny that must be lovely. The location was excellent right by the Chinatown gate.

I was warmly welcomed by Ahmed when I arrived at the hotel, and my room was ready to check in although I arrived a few hours before check-in time. I waited in the room while Ahmed arranged for another room to be ready (as I didn’t want to be near the elevator). He also texted me to check if things were alright while I waited, and so did Jocelyn on the second day of my stay. Thanks for making me feel at home. I’ll stay here again if I’m visiting in the future.

Pretty much liked everything. I would only recommend increasing the water pressure a bit. But it gets the job done.
Very clean hotel. Efficient elevators. Comfortable room. Good, consistent temperature control on the thermostat. Friendly cleaning and front desk staff. Water machine provided very tasty and refreshing water. This is a nice boutique hotel, would 100% recommend.

This hotel was the cleanest hotel I've ever stayed at, the location was at the start of Chinatown,very quiet and the staff were happy and helpful. Would go back again👍

The moment we walked in, we were greeted by Steve and his team at 9am. We initially were expecting to just leave our luggage and then go explore, however we were delighted to hear our room was all ready for us. This was great, having hopped off a 14hr flight to SF. The room was exceptionally comfortable and clean. The bed was so great, we nearly slept the whole morning. Steve also messaged us to see how we were going! Which was greatly appreciated! I highly recommend this hotel for it's location, service, room size and cleanliness.

the breakfast is not good value for money or quality - go somewhere else.
fantastic location with exceptional customer service even after arriving and the property didn’t have the exact room we had booked they quickly changed this the next day and provided great service throughout.

The carpet in the rooms looked like it could certainly use a refresh! But everything was clean. I would have liked breakfast to have been included with the room, but it certainly wasn't a deal breaker for us.
The staff at this hotel was incredibly helpful and attentive. I had made a booking error and Zach went out of his way to correct it on my behalf. Everyone at the front desk was excellent as well.

Very comfortable and clean, great location for access to China Town, Union Square and only a 30 min walk to the Embarcadero Piers. Access to fresh water and Ice at all times and the hotel was nice and quiet!
