Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe room was particularly dark and there was limited space in the bathroom to place our toiletries. The air conditioning was central and was turned off at night. We had an issue the one night after asking for it to be tuned on. We woke up in the middle of the night to discover it had been placed on heating mode. We had to go downstairs at 3 am to report this. The man at the front desk said that someone must have broken into the central unit to reset it. After the drama, we simply sweated it out for another two nights. Thankfully it wasn’t as hot. There was also no safe for us to lstore our valuables.
The hotel was well appointed, and the staff were extremely obliging. I liked the cafe/restaurant attached.

GermanyOverpriced. Unfortunately the on-side restaurant is separate from the hotel. So you get a minibar with wine and Prosecco ect (add. fee) but they don’t allow you to borrow wine glasses to the room. The afternoon/evening front desk shift seemed to be a bit confused and was more hanging on his phone then giving attention to the guests.
Boutique style hotel with nice furniture and decorations. Our room was quite big and clean.

United StatesThe rooms are very dark. There is no where for any storage with drawers like a night stand or book shelf of sorts. It was decorated very minimalist which we do understand is in right now, however I could have done without all the random books for a little counter top space or storage. We also waited a very long time for service in Blue Daisy although we were the only table eating that morning.
We liked the location and friendly staff that were always able to assist us. Comfy bed, GREAT water pressure and the food in Blue Daisy is delicious.

United StatesA coffee machine or at least a kettle in the room would make it perfect.
Perfect location on Melrose ave - walkable to museums, the art district, farmers market, restaurants etc. The staff were amazing - got me checked in way early even without asking (really appreciate it). The room decor is super cute and trendy. There's a lovely restaurant on site as well.

United StatesNot perfect so here are the cons: Room is small, but we are from a large city (aka we are used to small spaces). There is no closet. There are hooks and ladder with hangers but they could use more hooks and a place to store luggage but we made do. We loved the moody room decor but others may find it dark and the lighting is dim. For some reason we also had a few mosquitos in the room unfortunately, which we got bit from a bit. Wifi was very spotty in the room (not sure about downstairs). While the cafe is tasty, its a bit expensive for what it is. There's no kettle in the room; if you need hot water, you have to ask the cafe but they are inconsistent with when they close so there were a few nights where we came back almost too late to request hot water (we were told they close at 9pm, but other nights it was 7 or 8pm so it was confusing). There's also no microwave in the room either, so unfortunately we couldn't heat up food we had brought (ie., leftovers or snacks). They have a mini fridge but note it has no freezer and is stuffed with drinks (which you just have to take out for space). RE self-parking, we loved they had a dedicated garage for guests but to enter, you have to call the hotel each time so they can open the gate (it's not auto-open - although they seem to keep it open on the weekends for brunch folks, only auto-close). We didn't find this a con necessarily as there were never any issues and someone is at the front desk late night or overnight, but others may find it annoying to have to call every time. It is a first come first serve, but we always found a space! Our room was on the 2nd floor facing the inner courtyard that's often pictured; other guests can work/hang/eat out there - we can hear the music and the guests talking. It didn't bother us (and did not affect our rating) but it may bother others who want more quiet.
Very cute boutique hotel! Pros: Unique decor / moody rooms, comfortable bed, self-parking (the day rate beats anywhere else nearby from our research), welcoming staff. Cafe was nice downstairs. Location location location! Great location near/central to a lot of things we were doing on our trip. Also great walking distance to a few fitness studios and Erewhon on Grove is nearby. There is also a very cute cat cafe right across the street which was coincidental and a huge endorphin jump if you want to play with kitties for an hour!! There's also a very convenient bodega/convenient store for snacks and quick amenities also right across the street (also a CVS is a 20min walk/5min drive down Melrose as well).
