How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Gym was being renovated. Didn't want to go to a gym down the road, although it was offered.

Location was very good, close to everything. Staff was super friendly to my young daughters. Rooms are small but comfortable beds and good bathroom. The breakfast setup is not the best but staff worked hard to make up for it and food was good.

I didn't like that I was on the 23 floor and my kids were on the 4th.
I loved the building!!!!! Just beautiful, you should have afternoon champagne and strawberries for the guest in the champagne building. Work it! make it a big deal

Housekeeping is stingy with water. We consumed our water bottles when we checked in and right before we left for dinner. When we returned, there was no turndown and we didn't receive new water bottles. We requested for them, and were given 2. The next 2 nights, same thing happened (it's pretty obvious if the guests consume water, right? As the empty water bottles are in the bin already), and we had to call and request for more water in our room.
For fans of architecture, this is a wonderful find. Located in the historic Carbide & Carbon building with its gleaming exterior and champagne gold top. The indoors reflected a respect to the building's heritage, preserving the brass lifts and other areas, while infusing the space with contemporary touches like the furniture and art pieces. The rooms are large and comfortable. Also loved how pet-friendly the hotel is, and even includes a pet option in the in-room dining menu.

Breakfast a bit limited in choice but very good. Tables in restaurant were always very sticky…??
Excelent location, historic building, excellent renovation maintaining authentic elements of the building, excelent quality and finish of rooms. Friendly staff. Beautiful bar and lobby.

I didn't like that the breakfast area was crowded and I had to wait a long time to get a table for 1.
The location and the building are great. The room has plenty of space. The breakfast was good although it wasn't a buffet.

We loved everything about The Pendry Hotel. Beautiful stylish hotel both inside and out. Great location, lovely rooms with huge comfortable beds. Very friendly helpful staff. We felt so relaxed and comfortable that we really didn’t want to leave after a four night stay.?

I was given a third floor room, whereas my friends that I travelled with, were given rooms in much higher floors, that were much better than mine - we paid the same rate. I think for such luxury hotels, there should be a more even experience provided.

Rooms were a little tight but I would expect that with 2 queens in a city hotel.

Gym had been relocated due to renovation. It was fine, but not a gym at all 100%.

Not the best value / a bit pricey. The food on the in-room dining menu was relatively bland (although portions were sizable).
Fantastic ambiance, super friendly / welcoming staff, and incredible views of the Chicago River. Room was spacious and clean. The plush toy gifts for the kids upon check-in was a great touch and the whole atmosphere was very festive
