It's a quaint, picturesque, out of the way place but difficult to get to and pricey for what you get

We were supposed to have a room with a view of the lake but we didn't get that room and we were charged a little more than the online booking price we had reserved. Unfortunately I didn't realize the discrepancy until later so couldn't correct it while we were there and I didn't try to call as it was awkward when I called for something else when we arrived. The dirt driveway/road getting there was horrendous, huge potholes, which didn't deter us but it would've been nice to have been forewarned. No one was there when we arrived at 3:30 and there were no signs indicating where check in was. I called the number on my booking receipt and the person who answered just said "hello" and never identified herself, but I'm assuming she was the owner. I asked where we checked in and she said "you know check in is 3:00?" I was a bit confused, thinking we were late, but she was in Seattle and forgot or something about the time change (she thought it was before 3:00 I guess). She said her daughter should be there and to go to the restaurant, which we had tried but the door was locked. About 4:00 the restaurant opened and we were told where our room was (in another building across the property). The person who checked us in (the owner's daughter I believe) seemed very confused as to our reservation. I repeated my name 3 times and she just started reading off names of people who had reservations until she got to mine. Parking was in the grass which was a little worrisome as it was extremely windy/stormy and we were worried we'd get tree limbs on our car but luckily it was fine. For the price, the poor road condition and awkward checking in, it was disappointing. The weather isn't their fault obviously, but it prevented us from enjoying the lake and the wind was so bad that it was definitely a detriment to the visit. However, I would try it again knowing what I do now and hopefully when the weather is better.

The room was very quaint, although we didn't get the original room we booked. I would give them another shot however as it was a really great location right on the lake and the restaurant/bar looked very nice (we weren't able to get dinner there that night as we had other plans and it was kind of pricey, but I wouldn't mind trying it another time). The bed was comfortable and the room was clean so that was a plus. The restaurant/bar looked very nice and there were nice decks overlooking the lake that I hope to be able to visit again sometime when the weather isn't so terrible. We weren't expecting it to be so bad mid-August.

there was nobody there when we showed up. I got a confirmation number through the booking app but no other details. Luckily there was some workers who called the owner and got us into our cabin. Also the restaurant was only open Thursday to Sunday. We showed up on a Wednesday. I suggest the owner leave their number on the website so that people can contact them. Also they should let people know when the restaurants open or closed. Other than that it’s an absolute beautiful place.

The cabins were very close to the lake. Also the cabins were recently updated very nice. No TVs or Internet but it looks like they were working on it

No employee is on the property before 3pm. Its seems staff is only there when the restaurant is operating. Calls are directed to one person, directly to voice mail, and reaching an employee can be difficult.

The view is breathtaking. The smell & sounds of the lake were exceptionally the best part of our stay. And while the outside of the cabins looked ruff - the inside appeared to be recently renovated & clean.

The size of our room was a bit smaller than expected, but well worth the money. It would’ve been nice to have more than one small paper cup of coffee per person.

Our room was tiny, but the location was exceptional! We had a room with a view of Lake Ontario, facing the sunset on the water. Besides the 2 chairs on our private tiny deck, there is plenty of communal space to sit outside on benches and a picnic table. The best part? The Rainbow Shores restaurant is only steps away! They have a large outdoor seating area right at the bluff, another well-shaded outdoor seating area along the north side of the building, and a platform/stage under the trees. Unfortunately, due to Covid (I was told by our server), the restaurant is open only Thursday through Sunday, and they’re not having live music this summer. Be sure to make reservations! The food, drinks, and service were outstanding, too! The best option for dining aside from the on-premises location is Kyle’s Wigwam.

Oven did not work properly. Would like availability to ice machine & laundry facility and a daily check-in by staff to confirm needs of fresh towels, garbage bags and other supplies. Would have been nice to have a toaster oven since oven did not work.

There is no office to check in or out. We had to go into the busy restaurant to check in. No one was there when we checked out, so we left the key in the lock box.

The view of Lake Ontario is breathtaking! The views and sound of the waves make you feel like you are at the beach. If you are wanting to go camping, but have the basic amenities, stay here. We were very pleased and will be back soon.

The road leading in is a gravel/ dirt road with many pit holes but it’s a 10 mph road and isn’t long and easy to navigate just take it slow no need to rush! It’s worth it.

When I made the booking for Fri thru Mon stay I requested 2 things - lake view and early check-in. I did get notification back thru Booking.com that check-in between 1pm - 3pm was ok'd. Never got any communication from the property management though. I did try to call the morning I left and got a voice mail where I left my info and asked for them to call me, and gave them my ETA. They never called. The worst thing is the last road to the property looks like it was hit by land mines there are so many potholes!! You need to drive 5-10 mph and as though you're driving thru a maze to get thru it! I may need a wheel alignment anyway. It really is bad. The locals should chip in and have the road fixed!! I finally got there a 2pm and there were no "office" signs on the property to tell a guest where to go, not one person around and no vehicle parked near their restaurant. I called their # again two more times and got the voicemail again. the third time was the charm. A women I assume was the owner said "Check in is 3pm." I explained about the early ck-in request confirmation and she seemed like she didn't know anything about it. :-/ She said she's be over in 20 mins with the key. I waited in my car...and waited...45 mins later! I finally drove over to the front of the closed restaurant where I saw a vehicle and there she was. On top of all this she said she had an issue about the payment from my credit card going through. I showed here where the amount was already debited from my bank account and said it must be a glitch with Booking.com not me. I ask her what room I have and it's one of the ones not exactly AT the shoreline view, but it was advertised as "lake view". :-l At this point I just want to get in and relax! Phew! Finally I get checked in! For all the trouble, and the amount I paid for this bare bones room?

The entire place is on the shoreline of Lake Ontario which 90% of the time has gorgeous sunsets, so that is the best part. Even if your room isn't one of the ones situated closest to the cliff looking over the shoreline, as soon as you step out of your door you can view the lake. There are adirondack style chairs available to sit closer to the shoreline if you wish. When I was there it was after Labor Day weekend and very quiet, the restaurant was closed for the season already so no one was around. The bed was decent and the room was very clean. Bathroom had a shower, plenty of towels.

There's nothing to do for kids as it mentions being family friendly. The mattresses are very hard. Staff was hard to find to pay for the room but they were quick to call back with instructions etc. Other than that we will definitely be back!

The property is beautiful. The rooms are clean and the view of the lake it absolutely amazing. Sleeping to the sound of the waves was so relaxing. The restaurant was delicious!

Open the restaurant for breakfast, as this location is a little remote. suspecting this, we brought breakfast, as I'm sure most other people staying here did also. A nice quiet place, right on the lake, away from it all.

Breakfast is not included, although there is a restaurant (dinner only) on the grounds which is excellent! We had a cabin (cottage) on a small bluff, about 100 feet from the waters edge. Great views, nice walks on / along the shoreline.
