I had asked for an early check in and when we got there one of the rooms was ready and the other one needed some attention yet. I asked the man at the desk if we could check into the room that was ready and wait until the next room was ready......he started in on me about check in time being at 3... I know that.... he told me that I was being disrespectful. I don't know why....just because I asked to check into the room that was ready???? I was not disrespectful!!

The owner was there for our late night check in and was absolutely wonderful and friendly. He even turned the heat on in our room so when we got there it was nice and warm.

My only negative was the room air conditioner had not been turned on prior to my arrival. As the day's temperatures had been in the mid 90's, and I was an early evening arrival after driving 7 hours, the room didn't cool down well until after midnight. I did keep the a.c. on all the next day while out hiking in another mid 90's day and when I arrived back to my room before darkness set in, I had the most enjoyable sleep in my cool room! That is my only criticism. It could be easily remedied too by management starting the a.c. late mornings so when guests arrive, their rooms are cool.

The location was excellent for my hiking adventure. Many trails were just a short distance from the motel and excellent proximity to the Porcupine Wolderness area which was wonderful for me. Royal Motel was extremely clean and an adorable room with more than ample space than I needed. Workers were accommodating. I enjoyed my two nights stay at Royal Motel after days of hiking. The bed was very comfortable too. Location, motel, staff are excellent. I liked the chairs right out my door to sit on in the evenings and visiting with folks who also were enjoying outdoors! Michiganders are friendly folks.

Very dated decor (but given the price this wasn't really a concern), however the carpet in the room was stained or dirty and there was some mold (or very bad silicone) in the tub/shower.

Wi-fi was very poor but we were on the very end of the motel.

Nice roomy bathroom with new tile. Nice touches with plush towels, soaps, coffee. Our bed was very comfy.

The only complaints I have were that the internet did not work for us (we didn't have an urgent need for it, though) and the water temperature in the shower was difficult to adjust to a comfortable level. My wife felt that the bed was too hard, but it was fine for me.

The location was fine. The room was clean and spiffy. I really appreciated that the host (Jimmy) was responsive and anxious to meet all our needs.

This is an old motel, for sure. But it is comfortable too.

Water pressure in shower could have been better.

Location on the main road was convenient but still quiet. The retro decor was awesome! Bed was comfortable and room was VERY clean. Owner was very friendly and helpful.

I wished the door was easier to lock. But it does lock.

The host, owner is good at his job and enjoys it. The property is delightful. The rooms are comfortable, neat, pleasant and have good windows.
